And Maine trudges onward with Mighty Ted Woodward
And somehow Maine coach Ted Woodward remains the Black Bears head coach. Woodward must have some dirty laundry on the UMaine athletic administration.
117-177 in 10 years in Orono, including 6-23 in 2013-14. Has completely trashed a program that former coach John Giannini had turned into a solid America East contender.
64-84 in America East, including a dreadful 4-12 in 2013-14.
Has only two winning conference seasons, the last in 2010-11.
For good measure, was swept this season by D-I & America East newbie UMass-Lowell, with both losses by double-digits.
And my favorite, what I think is one of the most amazing stats in all of college basketball. ...
Woodward still has a job despite the fact he's been one-and-done in every America East Tournament since 2006. That's 9 straight seasons without a conference tournament win in a 1-bid conference where winning in the postseason tournament is pretty much all that matters. Even more amazing, some of those one-and-dones have come in the play-in round, when Maine was one of the bottom 3 or 4 seeds. Woodward isn't even a blind squirrel that finds an acorn once in awhile.
