2014 DL/OL Preston Woods Jr (South St. Paul)

I am impressed with the way he answered the questions, very well spoken for a sophomore.

Hopefully we aren't off his radar already, doesn't appear to have followed us growing up.

I follow the SSP football program pretty closely. I am friends with their head coach. I've seen him play a few times. The most impressive game of the year was against St. Thomas in the section championship game. He stood out more on defense to me but that might have been because I was focusing on Isaac Hayes (who he was often lined up against). It was that game when I started saying that I think Hayes needs to add strength before he plays a ton at the next level and that he had to RS. Hayes was still impressive, but in the trenches, I thought this kid was actually getting the better of Hayes. SSP also used a relatively small and quick DT who would line up against Hayes quite a bit and I think they kind of wore him out. Again, don't get me wrong, Hayes was still really impressive but much more impressive pulling and in space than in the trenches. That might have been because Woods was that good, I don't know. I really didn't know much about during the season, I certainly didn't know that he was going to be so highly recruited. I was focusing more on their FB (Mr. Football), their QB ( a real good HS QB) and their C who I believe is going to a FCS or Div 2 school, I can't remember.

Well we know who the Preston Woods insider will be for the next year and a half ;). Nice analysis as always Bob...

Yeah, I probably wouldn't post anything anyone told me that was too personal. What's weird is that I think the coaches are much less plugged in than we sometimes think. One of my better friends is a coach at CDH and I know the head coach really well, generally I am pretty plugged into the program and I've never heard much about these guys. I didn't know where Floyd or Seantrel were heading. The amount of info that I received was something like "I think he's going to Notre Dame" or "he's not really looking at the U" type of thing. But that stuff is all pretty well known by the time I know it. So either the coaches that I know aren't really plugged in or they aren't telling me anything that they do know. I wouldn't post it anyways. The SSP coach is a great guy and really intelligent but I don't think he would tell me a whole lot. I wouldn't really know because SSP hasn't really had a lot of guys who play D1 football. The only thing that I heard is that the U didn't offer Sam Sura (SSP FB - Mr. Football) a preferred walk-on spot.

I'll definitely tell you everything that I know about Preston Woods but almost everything will be from watching him with my own eyes.
