If you haven't had a chance to attend the annual NFF dinner - I highly recomend it! I've gone to all 5, and each one gets better and better. It's really a feel good night that honors high school football players that won't be getting D1 Scholarships, but excel in academics, leadership, and the community. I believe last year's average GPA of the young men was a 3.9.

On top of that, there is a such a strong Gopher presence (which shows how much they support this group) - Bobby Bell will be the keynote speaker, Coach Kill will be giving an award, I've seen so many Gopher greats attend this year after year. Here are the details, sign up today and I'll see you there!

2012 “Honoring Legends-Inspiring Leaders” Awards Dinner

College Football Hall of Fame Member Bobby Bell to Give Keynote Address;

Minneapolis, MN, April 9, 2012- The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame will honor outstanding individuals from the world of professional and amateur football in Minnesota at the Chapter’s annual awards dinner on Sunday, April 22. The event, which will be held at the University of St. Thomas, will feature a keynote address by former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher defensive lineman Bobby Bell. Bell is one of the most feared defensive players of all time and was part of the 1960 National Championship Team. Bobby is in both the NFL and College Football Hall of Fame.

College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend the event, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his fifth year as Master of Ceremonies.

The Murray Warmath Legendary Team Award will be presented by Coach Jerry Kill to the 1960 Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team. The 1960 Gophers represented one of the finest teams ever assembled at the state's largest university. Under the tutelage of Murray Warmath himself, the Gophers played their way into being named National Champions. Ranked by both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls as the top team in the nation, the co-Big Ten Champions truly had a legendary roster.

For the first time this year, the Minnesota Chapter will present the Bobby Bell College Impact Player of the Year Award. Bobby Bell is widely recognized as one of the best players ever to don the maroon and gold colors of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. The 2012 recipient of the Bobby Bell College Impact Player of the Year will be awarded to Peter "Fritz" Waldvogel. Waldvogel, a native of Mendota Heights, started a record 50 games at the University of St. Thomas during his college career. He is a two-time All-American, a two-time conference Player of the Year, and a Capital One Academic All-America honoree.
