If Berkley Edwards is "lightning in a bottle", then I'd like to see him put in a position to show us that. I'd like to see a screen pass over the middle or sideline wide receiver bubble screen pass to him. Something where he beats one guy and he's gone. I'd like to see the running plays they think he might excel at next year...I'd like to see that now. Don't we have something to get him to the edge? Sweep, pitch or swing pass?

I'd like to see Rodrick wear people down, punish people so Cobb can run free.

I'd like to see us use the gifts Wozniak has. He is a 7 foot guy that fights for the ball and can catch. Put him in a position to succeed.

If Myrick is our fastest guy and if he can routinely catch kickoffs...he can catch passes too. Give him the Edina track kid's go routes...forgot his name at the moment...to open up some space. Some slant routes...stuff that requires nothing but speed and catching the ball. Use the weapons you have.

I have a lot more ideas ha but let's hear what you guys got. I'm not the only Holiday Inn Express offensive coordinator in waiting on here.

Find a way to surprise Iowa.

I'd like to see us do whatever Limegrover doesn't do. That way I can come here and complain about it. It doesn't matter if I know nothing about football or even the names of the players on our roster. I just want to complain about the play calling.......

All good ideas and it would be fun to see Wozniak get a shot. I just don't want to see us run every first down for a yard, or Cobb running 30 times for 60 yards, or one completed pass, as in the San Jose State game. No reason for us to be 120th of 125 teams in passing. I suppose weather may be a factor - early prognosis is not good: 42 and rain.

People expect to much from Berkeley Edwards right now IMO.

Couple thoughts on your ideas:

The Berkely one might be interesting to see if they can figure out a way to use him but like Spoofin says I think the expectations on what we are going to get out of him have been overblown.

Roderick doesn't really seem to be in the RB rotation for one reason or another so I don't know that I would expect to get much out of him. Would like to see them figure out a way not to have to give it to Cobb 30 times but if the other guys are not getting it done we will probably see more of the same.

Wozniak - Lot of people are intrigued by him due to his size but there is so much more to it then just being big. If he could make an impact he would be out there. As opposed to throwing a new guy in the mix would love to see them figure out a way to get the ball to Maxx more often. He is a weapon but he does not touch the ball nearly enough, I am sure defenses are keying on him because they are not afraid of the receivers but still would be great to figure out how to get him 5-6 catches instead of 1-2 a game.

Myrick at WR....umm no. There is a reason he is a DB and not a WR, just because he can catch a kickoff or make an interception does not mean he would be a good WR and this late in the year is not the time to find out even on a limited basis.

I just want to see the offense come out and execute early. I don't expect a ton of surprises but they should be able to come up with a plan to attack Iowa and hopefully put some points on the board early.

I want them to truly play every game like they are playoff games as Coach Kill repeatedly espouses.

To be honest, Berkeley Edwards has appeared to be more what everyone else thought, not worthy of a Big Ten scholarship. Doesn't mean he won't be great for us in the future, but he hasn't shown anything in a game, beyond one run, this year to get anyone excited.

Yes--stop running Cobb up the middle on first down 80 percent of the time.

I'd like to see us continue to progress with the play action pass. I'd also like to see Leidner do a better job on the read option. Maybe he could watch tape of Streveler.

I'd like to see us do whatever Iowa seems to have done during their bye week. If we come out and go three and out several times in the first half, I don't care what the play calls are, I'm going to be pretty upset.

Agreed. You should be able to figure out how to get a couple first downs in 14 days.

I want a touchdown on every play we run. That way the DEFENSE gets lots of experience.

Careful. This board has bought into the "lightening in a bottle" phrase big time.

I think it is waaaaaaaay too early to even consider that. Tough to know how good he is when he averages less than 3 touches a game. No one else is getting carries because Cobb has been so good.

With Edwards it seems like when they get him the ball on sweeps and such, but he keeps trying to outrun the defenders way to the outside and doesn't recognize when there's an opportunity to cut it upfield when a gap presents itself. That should come with experience.

I hope that wearing his jersey right is something else that comes with experience.

Or maybe, and I know GHers won't accept this, the jet sweep isn't the greatest most unstoppable football play.

Jeez, I'm getting sick of this idea that the coaching staff has all these "wonderful" plays that would go for big yards, but they don't use them because they're either stupid or too cautious.

Feel free to disagree, but I believe that the coaching staff is calling the plays they think will work, and they are using the players who they think will do the best job.

You are wrong. Our coaching staff is holding something back just to piss off GopherHolers.

na. that can't be it. :p

Playing 4 good quarters is probably too much to ask of a Limegrover unit.

How about playing 3 good quarters?

Impossible?

Name 3 Gopherholers that are calling for more jet sweeps.

Is this a trick question? Do you read GH? It is the most talked about play of all time. There have been a dozen or more (easy) asking for more jet sweeps. However, there is only one single brave voice calling for lots and lots of flea-flickers. That guy knows his CFB.
