9. FAU at Minnesota, Sept. 3 (Thursday)
Unfortunately, we won't get a P.J. Fleck vs. Lane Kiffin coaching matchup because Kiffin left FAU to coach Ole Miss. But this is still a game to keep on the radar. FAU is now coached by Willie Taggart, and he will have a potential favorite in Conference USA to work with. The Gophers should be able to take care of business and row their way to a victory, but keep an eye on this one.

8. BYU at Minnesota, Sept. 26
While on the topic of Minnesota, the Gophers will host BYU in late September. BYU should be a good defensive test for Mohamed Ibrahim and Minnesota's running game. The Cougars are always physical, but Minnesota should have enough firepower on offense to hold off any upset bid by BYU.

Go Gophers!!

BYU seems to always have 22 or 23 year old offensive and defensive lineman. It's the missionary thing. Anyway, I look for a tough game against them. No idea about FAU.

Season opener on September 3rd

Ga. Southern plays FAU on Sept. 19th. Will your game with them be on TV or Pay per View. I'd like to see your game with them! Boise State will be our 1st game and Ole Miss mid season.

It will be on TV, but I’m not sure which network. I don’t think that information is even out yet.

Neither is ours but I should be able to Minnesota's official web site 2 weeks before the game and pick it up there unless one of you get that info before I look.

Go Gophers!!

By the way FAU is worried about their defense against the Gophers. they don't think their 3-4 defense can penetrate your large O line, their LBs and wide outs to cover your wide receivers.

I see you joined the “Owls Nest,” but I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t included the Gopher game in your list of near misses against P5 teams!

You’ve started a few threads, but of course, I’m talking about this one: http://www.fauowlsnest.com/forum/topicview/misc/fau-football/this-is-the-way-the.htm

How do you keep track of all of the different forums and passwords. You must have some sort of elaborate spreadsheet to keep track of it all!

Did you join the Ole Miss and Boise forums yet?

You are a Gopher Fan, aren't you?

Are you in any position to talk about the missionary thing?

I am personally a little nervous about these games (less so FAU due to the coaching change than I would have been). BYU seems to be a Jekyll and Hyde team recently that knocks off a power 5 team or two and then takes a bad loss or two to smaller schools. I feel like a portion of our fan base is just expecting to be as good or better next season and the casual Minnesota sports fan is looking for a reason to check out on the Gophers again. A loss in one of these two games (or especially to Iowa at home) would be really rough for the program. Get off to a good start, stay/get ranked, keep the Bank ~filled, and keep the momentum going. Easier said than done of course, hope it happens.

Wasn’t directed at you. That being said, old and retired is also 50% of our fanbase ?

I fixed my post on 17 for Pinto.
My comment was to Pinto. Sorry if I posted something that was under your name :drink:
