P.J. Fleck gets a new contract extension—pending approval from Board of Regents—keeping him under contract until 2030.

Nothing new in this statement. However, it is the non-revenue sports (swimming, wrestling, track, etc.) that supply our Olympic teams. Without this feed from the collegiate sports, many Olympic sports would falter.

U of M Total Operating Revenue by Sport for 2024 (football is 75%, other 18 sports are 25%)

Football and MBB have been the big money earners for years, even decades. TV revenues have just enhanced their contribution.

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

How will presently endowed scholarships in non-football sports like wrestling, track, swimming, etc. be treated?

    MSU Fires AD

I can attest that Coyle is as miserable one on one as he is as a public speaker. And speaking of money raising skills, we still have a deficit on Athletes Village....and how long has Coyle been here?

Shama: Breathing Issues Latest Hurdle for Courageous Casey O’Brien

The Finns would say Casey has "Sisu". Look it up. It applies to him.

Great article. I shared many of the same memories.

Minnesota’s Corey Hetherman new defensive coordinator at Miami

Speaking only for myself, apathy is already setting in.

Mayo announcers may have been worst ever

Disagree strongly. Some of the worst I have ever heard.

Phil Knight spares no NIL deal in thirst for Oregon national title: 'He's gonna help me make my shoe'

I'm a life long runner and used to run exclusively in Nike shoes. I switched several years ago to another brand due to Phil Knight and the lousy quality of the soles on Nike shoes.

Which Gophers will opt-out of the bowl game?

I hope not. That would be pathetic. They would be turning their backs on the coaches, their teammates and the fans. The ultimate in selfishness, but I understand that is becoming more the norm in a "its all about me" culture.

All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

I wouldn't put too many chips on Coyle's ability to successfully handle a situation like this.

Our Nebraska friend Jon Johnston on Minnesota legend Bronko Nagurski

The only downside to the great Bronko story is that in 1955 his son, Bronko,Jr along with Jim Colosimo of Eveleth and Bob Wetoska from the TC's all enrolled at Notre Dame and not the U of MN.

Poll: Fleck ever win 8 again?

Too many top in state OL played elsewhere over the years. We don't produce many top QB's, DB's, RB's, etc but we do have a fair amount of instate OL talent. We need to keep them at home. We won't get them all, but we can do better.

STrib: P.J. Fleck’s Gophers slumping vs. major conference opponents

Why would anyone trust Coyle to negotiate anything of significance?

    After 25 years… I’m out

Hopefully the Gophers can right the ship this FB season but looking at our schedule it will be difficult just to have winning year. As bad as FB looks, Gophers BB even looks more dire. After the cupcake pre conference games, it will get really ugly. And who's in charge of the whole athletics...

    PJ Isn't Going Anywhere

Blame our incompetent AD for negotiating this outrageous clause.

Eric Decker, Joel Maturi elected to M Club HOF

I would welcome Maturi back in a nano second over Coyle.

College Football Scholarships move from 85 to 105 - What are the Major Impacts

With the realignment of conferences, NIL, the portal, etc. I have pretty much checked out of college sports. I will always be a Gopher but my support has withered greatly.

CBS: SEC, Big Ten developing plan to share revenue with players in potential landmark change to college athletics

If the non-revenue sports are totally left out, it will severely impact future USA Olympic teams such as wrestling, T & F, swimming, etc. The NCAA schools have fed the Olympic program for nearly a century. It will benefit adversaries such as China, Russia, etc.
