I read that he was arrogant in interviews. He and his dad told teams what they expected and the way they wanted things to be once they were on the team. Dad also made the comment that if a team drafts him that they don't like then they would hold out until the next draft.

When you have not been drafted at this point it is always better to sign as a free agent. Then you can pick the team you have the best chance of sticking with.

I don’t know his situation but back in the day my family had seven kids. Dad worked two jobs. Mom worked a job with long hours. They worked hard and we were still poor. Coming from that situation in life I would’ve chased the NIL money vs local loyalty. Then used it to help the family out.

That stuff really happened. I would go home to visit my parents and my grandparents. In next weeks paper there would be a paragraph in the local paper mentioning us having lunch with grandma and what we had to eat. The locals really enjoyed reading about that stuff.

Non-revenue sports have been managing money or scholarships for awhile. It is new to the revenue sports because they simply just gave full-ride scholarships. You got one or you didn't. I know NIL is beyond that but the non-revenue sports didn't have the luxury of handing out full rides...

I think it has been a good thing for the Gophers. They seem to be in on some kids that they might not have gotten a look from out of high school. For whatever reason things just didn't work out at their chosen school.

I just saw something on one of the sports networks where they said 40 to 50 percent of the athletes in the portal never get a scholarship offer. So maybe they want to make sure they don't get left out in the cold and take the first decent offer they get. That would be midlevel or lower kids...

It has taken a turn in this direction but I wonder if it will eventually get to the point where some teams will go 80 or 90 percent portal recruiting because the athletes have a more proven track record.

I've always thought that about Fleck. I think he plays his starters too long in blowouts either way. I could see it when playing a little bit ruined a players red shirt but now with the new rules that is not a factor. Let others show what they can do.

Football has turned into a big deal there. The coach is a former college coach and runs a big production there.

I really had a dislike when Beilima was at Wisconsin because he was so arrogant. Now I just want to beat them. My nephew spent a lot of time in the U of Iowa cancer unit. The Iowa football players and basketball players were very good to him. So hard to have any hate there.

Not surprised the Gophers are up there in this rating but am surprised by some of the others. Plus when a kid transfers out does that just not count against this number. I thought it used to count against their number.

Ok ... maybe I missed this. Did they say they were actually giving recruits these cars if they signed there? Or just enticing them with what may or could happen?

I have known Colin since 1st grade. He comes from a great family and school. His character is beyond reproach. He will work his butt off for the Gophers. These are the kind of players the U of M needs. That was a pretty good D-Line last year for Byron. The opposite side DE is playing...

Like everyone else said ... QB throwing missiles at him didn't help. Wonder if he is big enough to be a project and move to the offensive line. I know they switch players around in some positions but don't know if they do that with OL .

I thought the Gophers used poorly this year and had a QB that had no touch on a ball. Instead tried to throw it through the receivers. I think he will have a really great NFL career.
