For the past 10 or more years the program has built on winning. They have a large and loyal fan base, who've come to expect excellence.

I've always felt Hope Brandner, in her one year here, was the best all-around player all-time at MN, even better than Lindaman. Yet Oakland's superior to all. She makes the discussion moot. It will be a disgrace if the AD can't find a way to keep Oakland, Chavez, and Krapf at MN. I'd go for...

Good for Jacie. she deserves it! Did she not win all three games in the series? And is that not 20 HRs for Oakland? Also good to see some run production from the lower half of the batting order. Can't remember when Chavez' BA was ever under .300, but maybe some warm weather is needed....

I was only following Stats----- With a 3-0 count and first open, did Oakland go out of the strike zone to hit the 2-run double?

29 runners LOB in two games=2 wins. Not bad. Grayson

Unusual game today. Leave 15 runners of base and still win? And where is Enter? Injured or out of action for other reasons?

I agree! My admiration for Krapf has increased more than for any other player. She catches every single inning, handling potential wild pitches & going to the circle to talk to faltering pitchers when no one else does, even the HC. Her weariness shows even on her tosses back to the circle. It's...

An almost full house of interested fans at JSC ballpark v. SDSU last night. Sadly, the Gophers weren't there in spirit. They acted uninvolved. Disappointing to watch.

I've felt the core problem in very recent years has been the lack depth in the circle. In 2021, 2022 & 2023, they scored enough runs (despite our griping about runners LOB) and played good enough defense to have been able to win the Big Ten. But they needed two outstanding starting pitchers each...

Like a broken record, I keep repeating myself. MN hasn't recruited a stellar pitcher out of high school since Fiser 8 years ago. There's no hope without elite pitchers. Given that fact, these pitching stats above are to be expected. Imagine if Pease hadn't miraculously appeared from Idaho State...

Not likely, unless Enter has a year left. But what's needed is a nr 1 ko pitcher, who can log tons of outstanding innings

Interesting. I talked to the parents of a couple of Gophers' underclassman pitchers yesterday. They're hoping your feeling is wrong.

I for one was pretty excited about Sunday's game vs. Rutgers, but it showed early the Gophers learned nothing from Friday to Sunday how to adjust to Boyd. There seem to be only 4 true D1 hitters in the MN lineup. Will the program find better bats next year?

Yes, the SS has carried the team all season. I for one have remained a spectator loyal to her and Krapf (for doing all the catching), less to the team or the coaches.

    Gopher Softball 2024

It's hard to remember a Gophers team with such general listlessness and passivity at the plate. Jacie pitched a good game and deserved offensive support, which was never even close to coming.

You're correct in your comments. Plus the first baseman would have had the runner at home except she threw the ball over Krapf's head, and the MN pitcher gave up a sure out at home by throwing to first for an out. Yet WI made just as many mistakes to even things out. Hitters on both teams...
