    Freshman minutes

Katie gets pulled as much as anyone else. So do the other freshmen. She can’t play them 38-40 minutes as freshman. They need as rotation to manage fatigue. Come on. When they get taken out, it is because of a planned rotation. Unless they get into foul trouble, or are are really out of sorts...

Whalen needs to go, good grief!!!

Roland, we all get that you think you are funny. But, you aren’t.

Whalen needs to go, good grief!!!

I disagree with the lack of hustle statement. I certainly Dont see that. They lead the Big10 in rebounding, as an example. Rebounding is hard and requires effort. Yes, they get confused and miss some assignments. I think a lot of freshmen tend to do that, and they start 4 of them. We will agree...

When does the seat become hot?

Lindsay had many “meetings” with Pitts prior to the event in which she dropped her from the team. People think that that was just once or twice issue. That is such a simple criticism. Players like Pitts and Powell destroyed the culture and that has taken until this year to clean up. Personally...

Sophie Hart ( Farmington ) Leaving NC State

She will practice with the team the rest of this year and be eligible to play in games next year. Next year looks promising, assuming the core stays, with Hart’s addition and that of the incoming freshman, including Paurova, who is really good.

Game 13: Gophers Host Eastern Illinois (12-22-22)

They are players who Dont crumble when the game is on the line. I think we can call them winners! They will struggle at times this year, but they will battle! A lot potential down the line.

    Like the Gophers are playing.

UPDATE: Jasmine Powell Leaves Team: Transfers to Tennessee

I agree totally. And Scalia would have flourished. Well, maybe if Rose could pass out of the post.

UPDATE: Jasmine Powell Leaves Team: Transfers to Tennessee

Someone like Geno has the power to sit players when they stray off program now. He didn’t always when he started, and his teams were .500. It took him awhile. Now he can do that and replace them with another 5 star. Lindsay is doing that this year as she has players who can come off the bench...

UPDATE: Jasmine Powell Leaves Team: Transfers to Tennessee

“Whalen tends to promote self”? What? She did everything she could to make Powell and Scalia good players. Selfishness is hard to overcome. And Powell’s poor point guard leadership skills are coming to fruition again at Tennessee.

Game 13: Gophers Host Eastern Illinois (12-22-22)

I agree. Rose needs to pass it instead of shooting every time! I counted Rose making one pass all game. And that was late when she received the ball in the corner, not the lane. She needs to understand that when double teamed in the post it means someone is open on the perimeter. Catching a pass...

Game 12: Gophers host Milwaukee (12-14-22)

Yes. Gophers scored the most points on them this season. They want the score low so they slow the pace. They have been i”in” all but one game. So, yes, they are ok and seem well coached to their strengths. I thought the way the Gophers responded late in the 3rd quarter was really good and shows...

Game 12: Gophers host Milwaukee (12-14-22)

I believe they are planning to work with her on her shooting form in the off-season workouts. Get her to release more on the way up (see Braun) and not bring it back over her head. You are right. She is a game changer and she can become an elite player if she corrects her shooting.

Next Four Grade (Big Ten/Power 5 Matchups)

For the life of me, I really Dont understand C grades. Prior to the first game, this team has not ever played one minute of college competition together. Normally, new players are integrated into a team with some returning players. Pretty amazing that they have played this well this quickly.

Next Four Grade (Big Ten/Power 5 Matchups)

I agree with the defense. One noticeable item is how they are aware of the weak side. We always stressed “butt to the baseline” when a couple passes away on the weak side. Last year’s players often would turn their back on the weak side as they moved to be ready to “help”. Consequently dribble...

Next Four Grade (Big Ten/Power 5 Matchups)

I’m right by the bench. There was no yelling on Lindsay’s part. “Choice words” appears to be a negative comment as I interpret the analysis above. It shouldn’t be characterized that way. Let’s not get too critical of a coach’s huddle discussions. These youngsters are amazing and playing better...
