Connelly made one excellent deal. The rest has been problematic.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT IOWA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Let's give Ben and the team some credit. They have beaten two good teams in a row. Tonight they played a strategically sound game with few turnovers and some incredibly lucky bounces on their FT's. Good on them.

I think we will see more of Dillingham, even though he doesn't have a clue on defense. He can create his own shot. Finch has no choice at this point.

    Typical reaction to win

Just seeing this. After the gopher win I was humming "One Shining Moment." Thank goodness you brought me back to reality.

The reason they looked like a team is perhaps Randle is getting the message. He actually moved the ball last night. Let's see if it was an isolated occurrence or he continues team basketball tonight.

Gophers men’s basketball team airs frustration in players-led meeting after loss at Wisconsin

NU and WI have coaches who were well established before NIL. We don't know how much NIL money Northwestern has because it's private. WI has more NIL money and more total support than the gophers. I don't know anything about the PSU situation other than they have almost twice as much NIL money...

Gophers men’s basketball team airs frustration in players-led meeting after loss at Wisconsin

Ah, yes. The whole "coach 'em up" thing. Not with this group. I don't feel sorry for Johnson. The gig has paid him very well. He is a decent recruiter. Didn't have the $ to keep any of them except Garcia.

Gophers men’s basketball team airs frustration in players-led meeting after loss at Wisconsin

Izzo and Painter would have started Asuma weeks ago. Otherwise, I'm not sure they could do much more with this group than what Johnson has done. They are that bad. When Ben took the job the program was under resourced, but no worse than it had always been. They had a new practice facility...

Gophers men’s basketball team airs frustration in players-led meeting after loss at Wisconsin

It's really not that much about the coaching. (Not defending Ben.) They have one of the least talented major school rosters I've ever seen. Garcia is pretty good. A fourth or fifth option (or a sixth man) on a top 25 team. There's a good basketball player inside of Asuma somewhere...

Shooter: Alumni and assorted boosters are pushing Ryan Saunders, the ex-Gopher who is an assistant for the Denver Nuggets, for the Gophers head job.

Great idea. Never recruited. Never really played. At least 15 years removed from the college game. Was badly over matched in his one HC gig. Now....if he can get his pal KAT to leave the Knicks and join the gophers...

Esthetically and dramatically, he's a great clutch player. Probably second only to Curry. Statistically, he's not.

It's always high drama when Ant does successfully close a game because he's a super charismatic player. He knows how to engage the crowd, home or away. However, the numbers are accurate. I was at the game Sunday night and he was pulling those shots out of his ass. Vintage Ant. Crowd going...

Should we have traded McDaniels instead of KAT?

The wolves used to have one guy (Edwards) with sticky hands. Now they have two of the stickiest guys in the NBA, It affects everything. When the ball moves and the players are moving there are more open looks and easy baskets. When the ball sticks things get stagnant and the open looks dry up.

They have all forgotten how to shoot.

Time to revisit Connelly's record. He got one very good year out of Rudy out of the first three, which translated into two playoff series wins. We are tied to Rudy for three seasons after this year as he declines not so gracefully. In exchange we gave up five first round picks and two pick...

Disagree. A lineup is a fragile ecosystem. Sometimes an addition can be a subtraction and sometimes a subtraction can create an addition. Adding Randle and DDV to the mix has hurt the team both ways. Every player's production has fallen off. When KAT was injured last year, Ant, Naz and Rudy...

Would Bakary Konate be a reasonable hire?

Bakary represented the biggest disconnect I've ever seen between a guy who looked like a ballplayer and a guy who could actually play. When Konate walked on the court he looked like a prototypical basketball player....until he had to do anything basketball related. Anything.

They probably will. Mostly because they aren't the most talented team in the league. However, let's enjoy this. They were supposed to be sub mediocre at best with a caretaker qb at best. Instead, we have witnessed very good to outright excellence week after week. It has been a great ride and...
