Rank the upsets in order of how likely (big ten west edition)

I was lurking on an Iowa football blog discussing the upcoming game against Northwestern. An Iowa fan posted a story from when he was a high school football coach in Texas, and Northwestern was playing in a bowl game down there. The guy went to watch a Northwesterm practice, just to see what...

Would you welcome back Cam Wiley?

I would say no. LeCaptain showed he could run with better, lower pad level in two carries than Wiley demonstrated in two seasons.

Official 2022 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

I used to share your view, but I do less and less every year. Everyone points to the huskers, of course. But look at the badgers, who had a huge uptick in their recruiting rankings in 2019 and again in 2020. The uptick in the 2019 class was powered largely by two players 5 * Logan Brown...

    Winning at a .700 Clip

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with this list, because you can do the same thing for Kill. On offense, Kill inherited Maqueis Gray, who I would easily take over Croft and co. He got Duane Bennett and Donnell Kirkwood at RB. Da'Jon McKnight and Brandon Green at WR. Zac Epping and Ed...

Omaha football writer places Gophers 6th in conference

And weren't the Huskers the beneficiaries of a very soft roughing the passer call on Mafe during their last scoring drive? I forget.

    Husker Explosive Plays

Martinez somehow threw it too high for Allen on the first drive. Martinez looks maddeningly inconsistent.

    Husker Explosive Plays

As I recall from listening to the Colorado game on KFAN, the Gophers spied Lewis, the Buffaloes running QB, using Oliver and Nubin. Maybe someone else has a better memory of it.

    Next Up: Nebraska

I saw a snippet of Frost's on-field interview after the NW game. Based on what I saw and heard, I expect the Wolverines will win, big.

    Gopher Memories

Took my kids to the MSU game at the Dome in 2009. While I was coming back to our seats with ice cream, the Gophers scored. As I walked down the steps, I saw my kids standing up for the Rouser. I still remember how pleased I was that they would stand for the Rouser even when I wasn't there...

We should be ashamed of this win.

I used to think that, but then I changed my perspective! Now I look forward to seeing how some posters on this site are relentlessly negative. For example: did the Gophers cover the spread but lose to OSU? The negative posters tell us we can't enjoy that result because "who cares how we...

No More Black Uniforms (or Charcoal)

When they expand the CFB playoffs, I'm sure they will!

    Defensive Struggles

Watch the Bama game and Jameson Williams' 94 yard TD grab where he runs away from the Canes defense. William's transferred from OSU to Bama because he knew he would never crack the buckeye top 4 WRs. I'm guessing the Miami DBs are pretty fast, but they couldn't run down one of OSU's leftovers.

    Defensive Struggles

I get the overreaction, but Stroud is going to be very good. Speaking of overreaction, I lurked a little at Bucky's 5th Quarter earlier today. Pretty surprising meltdown, lots of badger fans convinced that Mertz is overrated, and bottom half of the B1G.

I'd like to see your list of the 7+ B1G QBs you think are more talented than Stroud.

    Gopher's Annual Final Game

Not sure about the first change, from WI to iowa. But the change back to WI I believe was to give nebby a border rival when they joined the B1G, so we were paired with WI again. As I recall, nebby fans were upset because they didn't believe iowa was worthy of being their main rival. How times...

All Things Tre Holloman Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022)

Last year the Strib devoted far more attention to Bueckers than it did to the Gopher women. If Tre has success at MSU, I expect the same next year as well. The Strib assumes that their readers would rather read about MN kids that left rather than MN kids that stayed. Either that, or the...

Confernce Realignment Chaos is Here!!!!!! (maybe ... probabbly not) (Rumor Texas and OK reach out to SEC about joining)

Two clear losers here in this scenario. 1) Michigan. They'd be guaranteed a regular diet of sub .500 football going forward in that conference. 2) Notre Dame. Having the cool football kids form a clique, and you're not invited? Ouch.

Confernce Realignment Chaos is Here!!!!!! (maybe ... probabbly not) (Rumor Texas and OK reach out to SEC about joining)

I still love Gopher football and will support it till I die. But as the SEC keeps pushing to corner the market on big time college football, I find myself caring less and less about college football overall. It sounds unthinkable now, but I can foresee college football becoming more of a...

    This isn't going as planned

Given that in 2020 alone, the population of downtown Mpls grew by 3.5%, your claim about people leaving "in droves" is incorrect: https://tcbmag.com/downtown-minneapolis-population-grew-3-percent-in-2020/ Who or what is the source for the "reality" to the contrary?

Fielding "a competitive team" But being able to field "a competitive team" with Minnesota kids isn't really the issue. The issue is: what MN lids did Fleck miss on that would be projected as starters, or even backups, for the Gophers this coming year. I'd like to see your list of those players.
