All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

One of the best games I've ever seen. Glad Ant woke up with about four minutes left in regulation. I know SGA has had a tremendous year and OKC has the best record in the league but Jokic has to be the MVP. Denver's roster is two levels below OKC. OKC would win 45-50 games without SGA...

    Jaylen Crocker-Johnson to MN!

I agree with everything in your post but the first sentence. It really is all about the money now. Whatever the number is this year for roster construction, it will be chump change next year. And the year after. That's why we are at such a competitive disadvantage having Coyle run the...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

The only people who can regulate this board are the owners. Not sure why you are still litigating Johnson. He's gone.

It's done. Time to move on.

Did hiring Niko move the donor needle? Some insight from DTA

There definitely is a parallel, except that it is with Cunningham and Coyle. They each really only have one (huge) job. In Cunningham's case it's to raise money for the university. In Coyle's case it's to raise money for the athletic dept.

UConn SID threatens to ruin life of reporter

Since when can a stupid SID ruin anybody's life?

***OFFICIAL NIKO MEDVED OPENING PRESS CONFERENCE THREAD!!!***

As you know, not a chance Johnson left himself an empty cupboard last year. I shouldn't have to restate the obvious, but evidently I do. Christie left for the NBA. Not Ben's fault. Payne and Hawkins left for much bigger paydays. Again, not Ben's fault. JOJ didn't play defense and...

The wolves won last night by around 40 points. I wish they had won by 20 and we could take the extra 20 points and retroactively apply them to all of the close losses to clearly inferior teams.

Probably sending a message to his family. They are in town for a visit for the first time this year.

Hunter Dickinson’s pathetic March Madness exit had college basketball fans celebrating his demise

I remember seeing him against the gophers at Williams three years ago. He couldn't have looked more bored and disinterested. Very unusual for a college player.

Somebody on a ten day will go 7-9 from three.

Looks like Play In. Man, Zion looks unstoppable against us. Clark needs more fourth quarter minutes. The wolves need to actually run some plays in the last minute instead of Ant putting up double teamed threes or, if all else fails, tossing the ball to Julius late in the shot clock. His late...

All Things Gophers Coaching Search Thread (rumors, tweets, tid-bits and more)

I've been on record for months that Johnson had to go. I don't think anybody would argue that it was also a deficient roster.

Agree about Clark. I was wondering the same thing. He was pretty effective against McConnell.

I’m not that upset about it. The Pacers’ fortitude was pretty amazing. The wolves seemed to put them away half a dozen times down the stretch and they didn’t quit.

Anybody think the spending has gone down since the 22-23 season? It still corresponds to a $5M+ roster budget. And, yes, you have to have a good coach to go along with the talented roster.

I know you'll base your entire argument on the word "everyone." However, for the non petulant posters, it appears my supposition is light. The cluster of NIL budgets in this year's NCAA tournament is between $6M and $16M. Duke (of course) is an outlier with a budget in the 20's and there are...

Wisconsin spent between $2.5M and $4M on its roster. They will have to increase that number to remain competitive, especially if a new gopher coach can shut off the MN pipeline. I couldn't find a number for Purdue, though I found an article that said Purdue is one of the top NIL schools in the...
