Comment on Brew and Crews recruiting prowess

Considering how Brew and crew seem to regularly offer and even get commits from recruits who have not as yet been rated and who as of yet had not been approached by the top schools (USC, OS, Florida's schools, ect), yet seem to end up at least three stars and eventually getting the top schools...

    Brew statement on Twitter

Play4brewJust got back from a great couple days in Florida! Time is here now to focus on ball! Cant wait to see HC on Monday!! Go Gophers!! HC must be Hayo!

    Commits

I gotta confess, I am getting a little anxious to see another quality commit or two. Anyone know of anyone close?

    Question concerning Scholarships

At this time, how many scholarships with the Gophers have available for 2010? I am assuming 4, unless there are one or two that drop out!

    Seniors

Someone mentioned in another thread concerning recruiting concerning the amount of Gophers seniors this coming year. The thought crossed my mind concerning them that if they want to leave their mark on the U record books, this is the year for them, and since a pretty good percentage of them are...

    lazy Coaches

Just a final thought related to Carter's switching to the U, since some of it seemed tied to UWV not keeping in contact with him while the Gopher coaches were. Do you think that one of Brewster's recruiting insights is knowing who are lazy when it comes to recruiting, so he knows certain...

I've shied away from statements like this in the past

because I felt like they were not a fair assessment of the game/season, but for some reason, I think tonights game with Illinois is a pivotal game and will be a solid indicator of the type of team this years group is. If they do not either get a win or at least show they belong on the same...

With the new OC in place

I confess to looking forward to a few more commits now. I just noticed over at GI that Brew got a commit for 2010 out of Wisconsin. I know it is still very early and other Wisconsin commits have changed their minds, but it is a nice start!

    Gotta do it

Shamefully inspired by the title to a GI thread, I guess we can call him "the Big Fisch";)

Scout is reporting that Jimmy Thompson is

transferring to South Dakota! I guess it is not a big surprise, but he should have gotten some time next year. Guess he is going to play for Gordie Shaw and team with his former teammate Shane Potter.

Just a thought on why an OC

is taking longer then the DC, maybe Brew is still working on the one he wants? I mean, if it is Heupel for instance, maybe Brew is not taking NO as an answer quite so easily?

Any current recruits on the bubble due to recent

events? Any possibly waiting to find out who Brew gets to be the Coordinators?

I just had one of those cuff myself

in the head thoughts! Almost every Gopher fan was caught off guard by Roof's resignation, but probably not Brewster at all. He would have had to have been letting Brew know what was up from the beginning I would think so Brew has had some time to compile a list of candidates and look through them.

Anyone know or have any idea

how many scholarships Brew has left to work with? Given that, I am not sure Lewan may be that big a need for the OL, though the talent would be nice! The Gophers still could use 1-2 DBs; 1-2 DL; 1 WR and 1 RB in that order as far as I can tell. Personally, if they are not able to get the top...

    Just curious

Given the way Watkins recruitment is going and the emphasis on Leon, do you guys think Brew may have a walk on or 2 DB in view that he may be trusting in? I know it sounds a little out there, since walk on are not necessarily considered top players, but when looking at the list of current...

Looks like Watkins and Gainer both

are looking at more options. Though in a sense, I appreciate their wanting to make sure, at the same time it does not look good for the Gophers. Also Lewan seems thrilled at the prospect of visiting MICH, so it may be a tense couple of weeks for those three! After seeing Carter's top three, I...

Some are projection the Louisville game

as a "now we will see what the Gophers are really made of" type of game. I really do not think that is the right way to view it. Personally, I see it as an introduction to tougher competition and what is going to be expected of the Gophers as the season progresses. Even if they lose, it will...

    Wow...politics aside

I just found out my home town school band will be playing at the inauguration ceremony! http://www.fergusfallsjournal.com/news/2008/dec/08/ffhs-band-play-inauguration/?local Gotta say that is quite an honor!

Just a thought about current recruiting

Since Brew and crew do not seem to be bringing in other recruits at DB, they must feel or believe they have a commit or two out of the current ones they are recruiting. It just seems odd that there is not a lot of chatter on the boards concerning new names at any position. Maybe a good sign...

All I can say is if the Gophers can continue

to play with this intensity, especially when Nolan was on the floor, and continue to improve, at the very least they will make the NCAA and win at least the first game.
