NFL Reportedly Now Focusing on 17-Game Season

NHL preseason is even worse as they give more home games to strong attendance teams. This year Florida plays 2 home preseason games, Montreal 5. It is time for all sports to rethink preseason and even consider shortening the regular season.

A bank mistakenly put $120,000 into a couple's account. They spent it, police say

One day a gas bbq just showed up behind my house. I called the police and it turned out it had been stolen from down the street. Not sure of these analogies.

Old article on Terry Pettis (Minneapolis high schooler/ Fresno State palyer)

Since Fresno State discussion is all over the football board, I thought I would throw this out on the b-ball board. Below is a link to an article on former Minneapolis high school standout/ Fresno State basketball player Terry Pettis. For those around the Gopherhole in those days, Pettis was a...

    Punting question

Couldn't watch last night but the stat line for Herbers was 6 punts for an average of 34 yards with a long of 41. Should we be worried or was there a number of situational short punts?

    2019 MN United In-Season thread

Pretty high praise for United from a visitor from Winnipeg. Bellamy is a prominent local architect/ urbanist. https://twitter.com/brent_bellamy/status/1159282472636604416

Minnesota Wild fire general manager Paul Fenton

Fenton hired his son, just 2 years out of playing minor league hockey to lead Wild scouting for the draft. Reasoning? His son had been working for and mentored by Peter Chairelli in Edmonton. Chiarelli is seen by most as perhaps the worst GM of the cap era.

    Gopher in the CFL

Just a short update on the Gophers in the Canadian Football league. Woli, Streveler, and Richardson all play for Winnipeg which makes it easier for me. Wolitarsky: Has 8 receptions and 3 tds in 3 games for the 3-0 Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Is becoming a premier "Canadian" receiver (he has...

All Things 2019 Women's World Cup Thread

This is a bit of the problem with almost all women's sports. The best team are very, very good but there aren't many of them. The Women's World Cup would be better competitively to have only 16 teams but then it doesn't really help grow the sport.

Good thing they beat Thailand 13-0 to ensure they have a plus 10 goal differential in case they tie Sweden.

    Lets Go Blues!!!!

Two strong hockey markets and no west coast starts. Hockey ratings in the US are not that strong and St. Louis brought a huge following. Combine with a NBA final of a west coast team and a Canadian team. Suspect the US ratings for the NBA final will be quite low.

All Things 2019 Women's World Cup Thread

This is the problem with women's team sports. The best players are very good but there aren't enough of them. When the US plays good teams, it is worth watching but a 13-0 soccer game is not worth watching. They should either cut the number of teams or impose a mercy rule of 6 goals. Women's...

St. Louis Blues send every full time employee to Boston for finals

This is a nice story. I imagine no one outside of Boston will be cheering for the Bruins. https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/blues-surprise-employees-with-trip-to-boston-for-stanley-cup-final/c-307541114

Stephen Richardson update- in camp with Winnipeg

Fairly long and complimentary article on Richardson. I suspect he will do well in the CFL but it can be hard to predict which American players thrive. With Wolitarsky (starting inside receiver- slotback as they say in the CFL) and Streveler (back-up QB and used in a lot of situations), Winnipeg...

    Open office? Yea or nay?

I work in a field that has some need for privacy and for my whole career I have had a walled office. In my life, I run into many people who are forced to work in "Open Offices" (this can mean a lot of things but genrally means lower/ half cubicles and a lack of privacy- it is meant to foster...

    Go Bradley!

Beat MSU! No shame in letting someone else knock off the #2 seed. That said, if the Gophers could do it, it would be great to see Izzo pitch a fit at post game press conference.

Serious question. What nutrition do you advise? I assume a healthy diet but are there any specifics you wish to pint to? A website/ weblink is fine if that is easier. I am starting to feel old and need to eat better.
