    Iowa City Media

Trust me in that I don’t think things should be covered up but in the world Of recruiting any advantage is huge!

    Iowa City Media

Program issues are rarely reported so the fans are not used to anything negative. They don’t know how to handle it and their defense mechanism is to blame the messengers. It would still be blown up much larger in Minneapolis and not just because the population is higher.

    Iowa City Media

They totally cover up any issues. Same for the Badger media. The college runs the town. This is one the biggest issues in college sports. Cover up after cover up! Can you imagine the S storm if this was in Minneapolis??? OMG

We love to make things difficult!!

I am so tired of the lack of accountability in anything these days. Forming a committee for decisions is so chicken s... Whatever happened to people in leadership positions making decisions.

    Major Disadvantage

Not that this is right, but college towns have such a huge advantage in covering up issues compared to the U. Montee Ball had issues in Madison a few years ago-basically swept under the rug. You darn well know the Iowa scandal among players a year or two ago would still be headlines in the Twin...

    Local recruit question

Who is the last local recruit, with big time offers, to wait until signing day to commit to the Gophers? Dominique Sims?? Tapeh?

    strength coach

We need to hire Iowa's assistant strength coach. I'm amazed at how they are able to fight off blockers and make sure tackles.

    Team Camps

Do the Gophers hold team camps in the summer? If not...they need to get on this. I know Wisconsin does. Seems like a great way to start recruiting.

Our own Jim Tressel is only a few miles from campus

He's located only a couple of miles from TCF Bank Stadium. Glen Caruso, University of St. Thomas coach. Only kidding! Although, I've heard good things...

    Mazzocco vs. Dave Lee

How in the hell does the U think that Dave Lee is a better announcer than Frank Mazzocco? This is just another small example of the dysfunction in our revenue sports. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't in love with Mazzocco, but in comparison to Lee...OMG!

Gambling on a Basketball Coach vs. Football Coach

I understand that head coaching experience does not guarantee future success, but when Maturi swung and missed with Brewster he essentially set the program back at least 8 years. If you gamble with a basketball coach it is much easier to improve. We were fortunate in landing Tubby, but in...

    Crossroads

The next two years are absolutely pivotal in the future of Gopher revenue generating sports. The Regents need to make up their minds if they want the U to be a major player in NCAA sports. If so, they need to hire a president that understands that having solid Football and Basketball teams will...

    So which is it??

Johnnies and Joes or X's and O's??? I think we've learned that a coach must have a strong foundation of play calling and a loyal assistants.

    50 yrs of apathy

Is really the only reason why we are discussing if Brewster should still have a job. The few hundred on this board are truly passionate, but the general public could give a rats ass. Because if it did, Brewster would never have been hired in the first place. If alumni and this state truly...

    Joe Coleman concern

I've heard from some pretty plugged in people that Tubby is not recruiting this kid hard enough. Lots of talk about his height, but the kid can ball. No big surprise if he jets out of state. Just an fyi...for those that care.

    Media ? for Doogie

How much of an advantage do you think "College Town" programs have over programs such as Minnesota (in terms of media perception and overall positive spin from the media?) I have some thoughts, but I wanted to hear a true media member's ideas before throwing out my 2 cents. Thanks!!!
