Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

I don't think they ever had football, but the first intercollegiate basketball game was between Minnesota A&M and Hamline. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2016-02-09/possible-first-intercollegiate-basketball-game-was-played-feb There are other schools that claim to be the...

    Stadium Expansion...

I remember going to games at Metropolitan Stadium and they had vendors walking the aisles with hot dogs. I think that would reduce the lines at concessions if some common purchases were available in the seats. You get the cotton candy vendors, but you don't often see vendors come by with sodas...

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

UMC began its existence as the Northwest School of Agriculture. I grew up about half an hour from Crookston, we always thought of UMC as the ag school. Crookston does have the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department, and I don't think that any of the other universities in the state (besides...

Then they'd have to change divisions. The new conference could be D-II, D-III or NAIA.

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

The Crookston and Saint Paul campuses have the state's ag programs. If Crookston closed, I'm not certain that the Saint Paul campus could take up the slack. Real estate is a lot more expensive in Saint Paul than in Crookston.

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

Morris is one of the top rated public liberal arts colleges in the country. US News and World Report ranks it #8, and the top three are the Naval Acadamy, West Point and the Air Force Academy. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges/top-public

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

I could see a new conference forming, with some of the bottom dwellers of the NSIC leaving and picking up some others. Minot State joined the conference in 2012, and hasn't won more than 3 games since 2010. Minnesota Morris is kind of an oddball in the UMAC, they might fit in better in a new...

Outback Bowl: Gophers = Coconut Shrimp

I must go to Outback and order the blooming onion, since it represents our opponent. Time to eat our opponent for lunch.

Chip: Outback Bowl offers positive ending to Gophers season

It's hard to imagine the any team falling that far even with a blowout loss.

Official -- it's the Outback Bowl vs. Auburn

What problem? Maybe they'll win, maybe they'll lose. That's why they play the game.

Reusse: Fleck realizes you can fool most of the people some of the time, and Gophers fans nearly all of the time

And since we haven't played the bowl game yet, regular season is all their is to talk about.

    Winning brings better arguments

I think it was a mistake to fire Cal Stoll and hire Joe Salem. But that's done.

A Closer Look at the Gopher Attendance

You just want an excuse to eat pizza. Entirely understandable.

A Closer Look at the Gopher Attendance

Maybe they won't need pizza deals next season.

    Winning brings better arguments

At the time, we didn't know just how big the 2003 Michigan game really was. Had the Gophers beaten Michigan, the Gophers would have tied for the conference title and gone to the Rose Bowl, but we only knew that in retrospect.

Reusse: Fleck realizes you can fool most of the people some of the time, and Gophers fans nearly all of the time

The Gophers are indeed the Co-champions of the Big Ten West. This is not an opinion, it's a fact. From the Big Ten Media Guide. Clearly, the Big Ten Conference recognizes co-champions. I guess they didn't consult you. Perhaps reading the works of Plato might help you out...

Better to win bowl or go 7-5 and lose bowl?

It's not a choice anyone actually gets. It's not like we can choose to lose this game in order to win a different game.

    Winning brings better arguments

I remember in 2007 we were arguing about which was worse, the 2007 team or the 1983 team. This year, we argue about which was better, the 2019 team of the 2003 team. That kind of argument is a lot more fun.
