There's going to be a lot of positive talk this off season.

    The Mall of America Bowl

It really depends on how much cash the bowl committee puts up. Bottom-tier payout, you'll get bottom-tier teams.

SI: Unexcused Absence: Why Is College Football Attendance Tanking?

TV is a factor, and the game is getting more expensive, getting out of reach for a lot of people.

    The Mall of America Bowl

I think a bowl game at US Bank Stadium would be a lot more appealing than a bowl game in Detroit. There's the Mall of America, and light rail connecting the mall and the stadium. Plus there's a lot of things to. The Minneapolis Institute of Art and they could bring back the Holidazzle Parade for...

Gophers were officially co-champions of the West

But the Gophers weren't second, let alone clearly second. Where the Gophers second in 1967?

    Stadium Expansion

The stadium was built so that expansion was an option, but I don't believe there was ever any timeline. It just could be expanded if demand grew sufficiently to merit it, but demand would have to increase by a lot. Modest demand increase could be met with temporary seating. If we added 10,000...

Would a win against Auburn be bigger than the Penn St. win?

It's hard to say. Penn State was the game that made the nation take the Gophers seriously. The victory over Auburn sets a tone for the whole off season. The Gophers will start the season in the Top 25. The perception went from being pretty good to damned good.

    QB competition next year???

Competition is always good. Every player on the roster should have a fair chance to win a starting job. If someone is able to beat out Morgan for the starting job, it means that they've stepped up to be even better than Morgan.

247: ex-Georgia Tech player accuses MN of taping their bowl practices last year

It is much more likely that if Minnesota had been caught filming Georgia Tech's practices that it would have come out at the time, not a year later.

Eating our opponents - Auburn edition

I did find a recipe for Magic Cookie Bars from Eagle Brand Condensed Milk. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/63959/magic-cookie-bars-from-eagle-brand/ "This bar cookie is an old fashioned favorite. Chocolate chips, nuts and coconut are set in a caramelized layer on top of a graham cracker...

Eating our opponents - Auburn edition

    Stadium Expansion...

I like the idea of adding some temporary seating. If the demand keeps growing for the long term, we could see about expansion.

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

I'd agree that if no one was going to the game that it wouldn't be much of a positive, but I never claimed it would.

Reports: Minnesota Crookston, St. Cloud State to drop football

I'm sure Crookston football didn't add much value to UMC's reputation as a school, it might even have helped create a negative perception. But a decent sports program does make people perceive a school in a better light.

There's also the value to name recognition that sports provide, which can be harder to measure.

    SCARED OF AUBURN?

Auburn is a good team and we're playing in a New Year's Day bowl. We could win. We could lose. If we lose, it won't be embarrassing.

Or you could close the Saint Paul campus and put all the ag programs in Crookston.
