All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

Sorry the Ihnen post should have had a sarcasm imogi! I along with most on these Boards think Ben mentioning playing a 6-9 guy with average lateral quickness at the 2 as a recipe for disaster. We need quick players like 3-4 that are 6-5 and under ASAP. Hopefully Asuma is one of them.

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I see a bit of Devoe Joseph who was a 6-3 combo guard who could score, but wasn't lightning quick, in Asuma's game. He was good with change of pace driving to create his shot but nut necessarily good at setting others up.

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I totally agree on the AAU being a better barometer against better competition. Asuma is 6-3, so I'd prefer another quick player under 6-6, next to him and Christie on the wing. I prefer quickness to height. Christie needs to put on weight either way. This is all semantics if Ihnen returns...

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I was watching a few Assuma video's. I had made comparison's between Evans and Joel Pryzbilla in a different post. I was thinking Assuma has the height and scoring of Devoe Joseph, but he is thicker and has more passing ability. as a jr in high school. One could also see a taller and...

Gophers Dennis Evans "Is the most polarizing HS player in the country"

So I am hearing Joel was a higher rated recruit, so Evans very likely could average less! So if Christie comes in and gets maybe 8-9 ppl where is this team 4-6 more wins? Realistically if Ben cannot find a true quick experienced guard next year we aren't talking NCAA"s we are talking NIT at...

Gophers Dennis Evans "Is the most polarizing HS player in the country"

To me Evans sounds a lot like Joel Pryzabilla! A skinny 7-1 shot blocker out of high school but raw on the offensive end. A McDonald all American and brobably the 2nd or 3rd rated center that year. He averaged 7ppg, 6 reb, and a couple blocks as a fr. so year before he quit his offense was...

    B1G Recruiting Rankings per 247

Gee Christy is not a 6-6 pg? I am just hoping he is quick enough to guard sg or sf. Get me some small quick players so we can stop pretending we have the next Penny Hardaway but not a top 50 ranked player.

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I am not sure I would ever want Henley as my primary or secondary ball handler. I am nit sure why he can't mostly play and guard the three as he has that size and skill? We seem to be enamored with playing tall slow players at guard like it's 1989. Most teams everywhere have gotten smaller...

    NFL Playoffs

Eagles are stacked! Remember Hurts is a big who can avoid sacks and run. Cousins cannot run so he has to throw for a lot to make up for it. Every QB in the divisional round was an athlete who could run. To have a QB who can run is maybe no longer a bonus but a necessity unless you can read...

All Things 2023 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

The defense finished just as terrible as the year before where we ran a 4-3. Best players on defense, not named Hunter looked old and slow as the year went on. safety Cine was burried om depth chart then lost for the season. 2nd rd cb didn't help then got hurt too. I have no confidence in...

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

Asuma is listed as a pg on 247. He is the tallest player on the team in single A class. At 6-3 he is going to play with a few players 6’ and under so he doesn’t always play the point but he is all the talent to be a scoring pg.

Maybe we can trade 4 stretch 4's for an elite quickness guard!

All Things 2024 Daniel Freitag Recruitment Thread (Gophers Have Offered)

Got ya but how many players have been on a gophers roster with elite quickness? Not sure I would say even Tre and Tyus has elite quickness, though they were very good!

All Things 2024 Daniel Freitag Recruitment Thread (Gophers Have Offered)

I see him listed as anywhere from 6-1 to 6-3? The best gopher of the last 30 years was a 6-1 sg? Played next to a big 6-3 pg, so I am nit sure who guarded the taller player. This team lacks smaller and quick players. Weird you couldn't recruit both. I believe Asuna is 6-3. Wasn't Westbrook...

    RB Evans

I find it funny how bad people think Potts and Williams are? Mo averaged 5.2 you, Potts 4.7, Williams 4.9. You would think Mo averaged double what these guys did if that was true. Mo was special in that he could get you 6, when someone else would be lucky to get 1-2. Under Fleck, I doubt...

***OFFICIAL NEBRASKA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Anyone notice our second leading rebounder was Samuels?

Was Saturday Dawson Garcia's best game as a Gopher?

I agree. His defense and rebounding have really improved. Too bad Ben would never have Battle come off the bench as a scoring 6th man. Payne at the 5, Garcia at the 4, and ola Joseph at the 3 would be great on the boards and defensively. You would take a hit on shooting is all.

The guy guarding him is listed at 6-3 200, no way they weigh the same, nonetheless the 4 inch ht advantage!

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT wisconsin IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Can anyone explain to me why our 6-7 230lb player is trying for step back shots against a 6-3 200lb player? How is battle not posting him up? Wisc will post up a pg if the matchup dictates it?

Souhan: The wait for Evans and Christie could feel long as a Minnesota winter, but Johnson should be viewed similarly. He was hired to recruit.

I don't care how many forwards and centers we have with potential, basketball is won with guards! Quick and fast with good handles, tenacity, smarts, and shooting. Cooper is savvy and I'm happy we have him. But we will not be an upper big ten team without some really quick guards especially...
