GopherSports: Who is on your Mount Rushmore of Gopher Running Backs?

Barber, Maroney, Tapeh, Pinnix. All on roster in 2003. Only Pinnix is a stretch and he was a damn good back. That 2003 team could have won a natty (with a average D)

Will the Wild Make the Playoffs?

I think the seaso n is over. But if the NHL came back, they would have to do something that would allow all the trams that had a "chance" (Wild, Predators, Jets possibly even Blackhawks) to play in the playoffs. What this would look like, I don't know. But Wild would be well placed and could do...

Miracle on Ice - 40 years later

Kind of taking the thread in a new direction but here goes. American Olympic coverage is awful. US tv executives have convinced themselves the wider audience that the Olympics brings means you need to tell stories about the athletes rather than focus on sports. It is brutal. If you can, stream...

MIAC Facility Wars - next move

I have never been down that way. Is it a nice drive/ worth a day trip from Minneapolis? Worth it to continue on to Mankato?

    All things good dogs

We adopted ours straight from the previous owner. She got Oppie when she was single. A few years later shacked up with a guy and had a kid. They then split up and a dog and a baby was too much for a single mom. He dropped 10 pounds in the first month we had him just by walking. She claimed he...

    All things good dogs

Apparently dogs are useful deterrents just by being there. Most thieves are just looking for a quick in and out. The dogs add a level of hassle that make them move on to the next house.

    All things good dogs

I am sorry for your loss, the six year old must have been really tough- that's too young to lose a dog. We lost a 10 year old beagle to lymphoma three years ago and it was hard. I am also a 2 dogs person. We have 2 puggles (pug/ beagle crosses- wonderful temperament and more obedient than a...

    All things good dogs

One thing we call agree on np matter the political leaning is that good dogs are one of the better things in life. Please post your doggie related material here. I'll start with this twitter thread on the recent passing of Rusty, Winnipeg's top canine celebrity. Rusty was a good boy. #RIPRusty...

    "Minny"

On a related note apparently people from San Francisco detest the term "San Fran".

    "Minny"

Very commonly used by Winnipeggers as short form for Minneapolis (to Winnipeggers the whole metro is just called Minneapolis). If someone says they are going to Minny for the weekend, it is the city not the state.

He's BAAACCKKKK (Maybe) Bret Bielema to Michigan State

BB to MSU is great for Minnesota. Another villain in the conference and a change to enrage Wisconsin. I like it so much and not just because I am too lazy to change my avatar.

Damian Johnson: "I'm so glad we beat Wisconsin...It doesn't matter where the recruits are from it's about fit"

Mbakwe had odd legal issues. He always claimed innocence, was never convicted of anything, and the fact that he has had no further issues makes me give him the benefit of the doubt. https://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/threads/trevor-mbakwe-reinstated-to-gopher-men’s-basketball-team.18998/

STrib: Ex-Gopher QB Chris Streveler leaving CFL as a 'legend' to pursue NFL dream

Streveler was awesome last year, his athleticism is off the charts. Huge, fast and physical. I suspect he will carve out a role in the NFL similar to Hill in New Orleans. As for arm strength, it was weak and the decision making was suspect. He could have had a long career in the CFL as a...

    Kobe King transfer rumors?

A pretty devastating article: https://madison.com/wsj/sports/college/basketball/men/kobe-king-cites-continued-unhappiness-with-coach-greg-gard-as/article_02dae339-204e-5788-a891-c03e908d1b0a.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-1 If Wisconsin keeps Gard, they may be looking at a few really down...

FCS Championship game is going on KSTP Channel 5 Twin Cities at 11:00 AM

What is interesting is NDSU fans are getting complacent and are not selling out a 19 000 seat stadium. In fact they had only 14 500 for the FCS quarterfinal against Montana State. Even the semi finals were 1,000 short of a sell out. The games are inside so weather shouldn't factor in.

SI: Unexcused Absence: Why Is College Football Attendance Tanking?

Attendance is dropping in almost all sports. Gameday experience has gotten too expensive and the tv viewing experience has gotten very good. I think we will see a plateau or even a drop in ticket prices over the next few years.
