A few years ago I was coaching a high school basketball game and we were up 50. In the second half one of my players made a basket cut and was wide open. Her teammate did not pass her the ball as I instructed them there was only one or two specific way they could score, and this was not one of...

I have a sneaky feeling the Edina-White Bear Lake game will be a lot closer than people may assume.

Very true. Anytime I hear someone complain about a lopsided score, i simply ask when they pulled their starters. I've been on both ends of ass whoopings and sometimes there's nothing you can do but chew on your nails and hope the clock keeps running.

Any coach who says. "we need to give the kids enough reps to get them ready for the next round" is not good. Executing against significantly inferior teams usually does not improve anything and can actually reinforce poor technique. Iron, not butter, sharpens iron. Not to mention, you are...

This is exactly it. Kids from economically disadvantaged families often do not participate in youth sports or off-season training programs. Two factors are involved; cost and transportation. It's no coincidence that in the Twin Cities metro, the schools that are most successful in almost all...

Every Metro south team that did not play a relief team lost this week, not good.

With all due respect, Prior Lake is not a bad 6A team. Their district is really tough. They could legitimately be anywhere from 4-2 to 6-0 with a Metro South or Metro East schedule.

Has there been any discussion of a 2nd high school in the Wayzata district? A high school of well over 4,000 kids would be unprecedented in Minnesota.

I agree these are interesting match-ups: Wayzata @ Anoka Wayzata is better than last year, but clearly still not the standard we are used to. I'm not sure if Anoka is better than their team last year, but last year they man-handled a Wayzata team that had thrown in the towel on the season...

    I would honestly take Lakeville South in a game against any of these teams: 7. Anoka, 3-2, 27 8. Blaine, 3-2, 17 9. (tie) Buffalo, 4-1, 16 9. (tie) Stillwater, 3-2,

Minnetonka still has to play Eden Prairie as well. I know the Eagles are down, but they are still a threat any given night. It would be interesting if Edina, Minnetonka and Shakopee each have one loss. I think cross-over games would come into play and if Tonka were to beat Maple Grove it would...

Maybe that just speaks to the fragility of Lakeville North's #1 ranking more than anything? From what I've seen, Shakopee, Minnetonka, and Edina are very, very good teams. They each field 22 solid football players. True, they may get banged up in the latter half of the season, and we will see...

Good point on the depth. Football, even in 6A, doesn't have the numbers it used to.
