PVF is starting up this spring in the US. I'm hoping it will be a legit volleyball league for us fans. Teams in Omaha, Atlanta, Grand Rapids, San Diego, Orlando, Columbus and maybe one or two more. I'd keep my eye on this one, it could be good.
Landfair has frankly been tragic since the season started. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes but I can't see Landfair threatening to transfer if she doesn't play 6 ro. She played 6 ro last year and did fine. Not great but serviceable so I could see why she started the season...
I think Texas looked a bit discombobulated this first weekend. I think they're still getting adjusted to playing with each other and who is going to take what sort of thing. Kind of like Baylor. They are already here in MN so I expect they will be practicing hard the next couple of days to clean...
I agree, Davis has some offensive prowess at middle, but leaves a lot to be desired in blocking. She was late on pretty much every block last night. I hope Phoebe is a good blocker AND can hit. Minatee could potentially win the spot over Davis but it could be nice to have a 4th option.
Adding...
I'm guessing because we want a top libero starting the '24 season and there may not be many top recruits left in the US that they're checking out all possibilities. Or maybe there was something about this libero in Turkey that was highly desirable, like an excellent passer, etc. Who knows. It...
Except if you have aspirations to go on and play for the national team as a 6 ro player, or play internationally, you need that experience in the NCAA. Karch has even said he's trying to influence college coaches to train and play the way the national team does with 6 ro players.
I'm not quite sure what to think of this transfer. I hope it will be a good thing. I'm concerned having 3 transfers not coming in until the summer, especially as they could all potentially be starters. That's a lot to gel together in a few weeks (libero, middle and opposite).
Jess Robinson transferred to Duke, so she can come off our list as potential middles. I don't think there are any quality middles left right now so we wait until May...
No one seems to know anything about Gomillion's plans. If she was visiting schools someone would know about it I would think. I doubt she'd consider coming to MN to be the DS, as much as we'd love it. I think we need another middle first and then pray Cook and his team can develop Gray or...
I don't know, I've been wondering this too. I would hope the athletes would prefer the loyalty and commitment to development from coaches like Cook/McCutcheon, however it just seems like the top players in the portal are going to the top 2-3 schools so they can get their natty. So will it be the...
Kylie's family has joined the Gopher Volleyball Fans group on Facebook and this is what her dad wrote:
Fun stuff. It's a balm to hear that MN is still considered highly with student-athletes. With the coaching turnaround and player departures it felt a little unsteady.
