Top 5 Do the Gopher request

Lizzo seems like a pretty obvious choice if she hasn't done it yet. Amir Coffey, Ko Kieft. Have Rashod Bateman or Antoine Winfield done it yet? Mo Ibrahim someday of course. Otherwise Nick Swardson, Vince Vaughn, maybe Har Mar Superstar, or some member of Doomtree like Dessa or P.O.S...

    Will Ramberg

I know it’s a stereotypical walk-on white guy observation, but I do appreciate how hard he plays.

***OFFICIAL INDIANA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It looked intentional, but I wasn't sure why he did it. Triggering the TV timeout would make sense though, just feel like that's not something I've seen much. I think it was the third team foul and Battle's first, so probably not going to hurt us in a big way.

All Things 2023 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

247 has him at #38 in the composite; he’s like #18 in their own rankings, #11 on Rivals, but #95 on ESPN and somewhere in the 80’s on On3. Weird disparity between them. I’ve heard ESPN rankings can be lousy though, that they just don’t put the same amount of time and effort into evaluating...

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I'd have to hear the exact wording again, but I believe Ryan James said on the talk gopher buckets podcast that released yesterday that the Gophers are now a big favorite to get Asuma. Iowa State is maybe backing off, and they got a commit from another player (not a point guard) a few days ago.

All Things 2023 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

Previous Gopher recruiting targets Andrej Stojakovic and Elmarko Jackson were selected as McDonald’s All-Americans. Also idk where he was ranked before, but Dennis Evans is at #95 on ESPN.

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

I thought I heard he played some point for his high school team, but I imagine he'll mostly play 2 guard in college. I think Jaden Henley and Cam Christie are supposed to do some ball handling though at some point.

How did you like the all-black alternates Gopher fans?

I liked the uniforms, though I will say I assumed the uniforms had no names on the back. I didn't even realize there were names there until I saw people complaining about how the maroon lettering blended in with the black jersey.

Field of 68 Projection: Iowa Rattles Off 3 Crucial Wins to Solidify Spot in the Field

How far off are Michigan and Indiana? Just glancing at schedules, I didn't realize Michigan had a loss to Central Michigan, which I assume is weighing them down, and no great wins either. Indiana's home loss to Northwestern isn't great, but they did beat North Carolina and Wisconsin.

Rutgers got a commitment from 5 star forward Ace Bailey out of Georgia today.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT OHIO STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I thought this was going to have the one where Jaden Henley dove for the loose ball, didn’t get it, then the dude who did get the ball seemed to almost voluntarily trip over Jaden’s body sprawled on the floor. It sucks that that’s a foul, but I kinda get it, and it was cool seeing Ben Johnson...

Have the Gophers turned the corner?

From what I remember, like 100 players or more get “nominated” for the McDonald’s AA game, but far fewer get selected and actually named as McDonald’s AA’s. It wouldn’t surprise me if Christie was nominated but has little chance of being selected. Evans I’d guess could get there though, unless...

***OFFICIAL NEBRASKA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I thought our ball movement and inbounds plays looked pretty good last year when we had a bunch of dudes in their 4th, 5th, and 6th years of college. I feel like I remember several successful scoring plays drawn up to close out first halves of games last year, either scoring at the rim or...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT wisconsin IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Wahl and Crowl, probably Wahl moreso, seem to put their bodies into the defender really hard when posting up on offense, and I loved seeing Payne stand his ground and not give up space.

Promotion and Relegation for a 16 team B1G?

Damn, harsh reception. Sounds sorta fun on paper, especially if you're resigned to finishing behind Ohio State and Michigan in perpetuity, gives you something to play for, but probably a bit gimmicky for college football. My biggest concern would be loss of yearly rivalry games.

OFFICIAL: Minnesota vs Syracuse in Pinstripe Bowl

Not you, but other people earlier in this thread have argued that bowl placements are in fact based on merit, and that the Gophers deserve the low tier bowl games they get slotted into. That apparently Iowa, who won fewer games than we did, and had 2 home losses to teams that went 4-8, had an...

OFFICIAL: Minnesota vs Syracuse in Pinstripe Bowl

Exactly. 2021: "Minnesota deserves to go to the worst bowl game possible. Ugly losses to Illinois and Bowling Green override head to head wins against Purdue and Wisconsin." 2022: "Minnesota deserves to go to the worst bowl game possible. Illinois and Iowa's head to head wins over...

    Iowa vs KY in Nashville

Thought they might try to avoid a repeat matchup from last year, but maybe there’s less priority placed on that than I thought. The Big Ten/ACC Challenge does repeats a lot in basketball.

    Bowl Game Projections?

As another reply to you said, the Gophers didn't get crushed. The final score was 21-17, and Syracuse only retook the lead with 1:14 left in the game. The disappointment from the Minnesota side going into that game was because we had just won 8 games for the first time in 10 years, and had...

    All Things Former Gophers Thread

In 2015 we took Jarvis Johnson and passed on Alex Illikainen. Then in 2016 we got Michael Hurt and Amir Coffey, who I think were the top 2 players in Minnesota that year. The "Pitino can't get the local kids" talk started with the 2017 class with Gary Trent, Nate Reuvers, Brad Davison...
