***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT BUTLER NIT FIRST ROUND IN-GAME POST-SEASON BASKETBALL(!!!) THREAD!!!***

If Payne figures out a consistent 12 foot jumper he's going to be an absolute force. His drives and near the basket moves have improved over the year

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

I just find it comical that you never criticize the coach or are ever wrong. Just some more excuses. Come to think of it, just like the coach....hmmmm

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

What a reply.🤣 So let me get this straight, CBJ did a great job bringing in guys like JOJ/Betts/Ihnen/Wilson and then when none of them were good enough to play 1 minute it was also CBJs genius that kept them on the bench. Wow, we truly have a transcendent coach who not only is the best...

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

Probably nothing but I find it interesting that essentially everyone they've contacted had been a guard/wing. Considering Asuma, Hawkins, Mitchell seem locked in and DG/Fox being a ? Just seems odd. 👀

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

I see no one actually answered "what does CBJ do well as a coach" Any thoughts?? This year we ended 49th in off 128th in def per ken pom. Solid offense. Gross defense. I liked our offensive splits 55/35/70 isn't awful shooting. Assist totals good. I do think we benefitted on some of these...

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

"Pitino said its hard to win here" I mean that's right up there "Izzo says the Gophers will be #1 in the Big ten soon if they keep Johnson around!" What the hell do you think they'll say? Hey its easy to win there i just suck as a coach! Or Izzo, you think he's going to say ohh yah you...

    Gophers in the NIT!!

I think after the seeds they try to set up matchups that draw fans. UCF V USF. Going to get way more fans into that than say Iowa or minn vs usf

At 18-14, will the Gophers make the NIT?

Bring on Larry Blurred in rd 2!

At 18-14, will the Gophers make the NIT?

I think the gophers get in. Mostly because I think there will be a LOT of opt outs. Teams don't care about the NIT, they want to start recruiting.

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

I get it, it isn't ideal, but it's just like Vikings QB. Until you find a great college coach (in any sport) you need to keep trying new options. 1 college coach, like NFL QB, is the difference from irrelevant to quickly relevant for years.

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

Fair enough, I do not share your views but I think that is a logical way to view it. I would agree he's getting year 4. Would be interested in this group if there are actual goals or is it simply "they look better to me so that counts ". That's where I could see people arguing for year 5 even...

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

So let's recap. Those who are happy with CBJ : Argument generally goes IF everyone returns and IF we add a few good transfers, and IF Asuma is good and IF the coach figures some things out we MIGHT be a solid team So you are willing to beat on all of those scenarios happening but you are...

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

So do you agree 3 years in likely issue #1 has been depth correct? So I would agree he likely doesn't put his feet up, but then that means he either can't identify talent or close the deal with guys. The end result is the exact same. We end up with 4-5 guys he can play and we hit a wall. I...

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

On 2, I don't know if I explained it well. I would say for a coach with 0 HC experience and his overall record. I'd hazard a guess in more than 50% of schools he'd be fired. Can you find exceptions, sure you can, but that was my point. I think we'd all agree with coaches who have some track...

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

This to me is a weird season. I think it's logical to say it was a "good" season. Wins improved, missed WW, had some wild comebacks, and have the potential to return a lot of good pieces. So yes, to say this was a good year is defensible. By the same token I think its easy to say this was a...

2023-2024 College Basketball Coaches Hired/Fired Thread

Yep I'm really excited CBJ is a nice guy. That's my fault, I forgot college sports is about who is the best guy, my bad. Wins, who cares!

2023-2024 College Basketball Coaches Hired/Fired Thread

Howard out, 1 great year, 3 avg 1 bad and Michigan says we can do better. MN has 2 disaster years and a below average one and half the fan base is happy to have him back. 🤦‍♂️

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

But we were told year 1 doesn't count for a new coach who loses their whole roster!! Yet some how PSU is still respectable....it's almost like they hired a competent coach!

Do you want Ben back for a fourth year?

I think CBJ stays, I think that's dumb but alas here we are. So assuming he stays I have a few issues. 1. He seems somewhere between stubborn and scared. Fire an assistant, change your offensive game plan, change your defense, sit a guy when he's playing awful SOMETHING! I'm sick of the scared...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

This to me is perfectly stated. The first two years i was mad/annoyed because we were so bad, after todays loss I just feel apathetic. I am over the excuses and well if this happens next year and well this coach said this or that. It all rings hollow. I also think he ends up staying next year...
