Coach Ben: Think Jack Wilson getting Edey off his game on Feb. 15

Zach Edey 7'4" 300lbs, Jack Wilson 6'11" 285lbs, but I don't think Edey could bench press Wilson.

Coach Ben: Think Jack Wilson getting Edey off his game on Feb. 15

Sadly, that is probably true. Refs are biased against huge dudes. Big guys also have freedom of movement! Defensively, if Wilson exerted the same energy that Carrington does, the whole lane area would look like a bucket spare in bowling!

Coach Ben: Think Jack Wilson getting Edey off his game on Feb. 15

All joking aside, its difficult to say how Wilson would play because he hasn't had any significant PT yet. My point is that he's a big dude from football, can move, jump, and actually play like a few other dual sport guys. I'd like to see more minutes, and have CBJ have him "play lower"...

Do you see 3-4 more BIG 10 WINS?

There is nothing impressive about Izzo's team statistically, or the eye test. Not including non-conf schedule--(level playing field vs BTN teams), MSU is only in the top 3 category for Turnover Rate%-(13.4%). They are 14th, WORST in getting Free Throw line (23.5%). MSU is 12th in 2PFG%, and...

Coach Ben: Think Jack Wilson getting Edey off his game on Feb. 15

MN has needed this type of player for years in the BTN. Reminds me of Julius Peppers from UNC '01 at 6'7" 290lbs dual sport player. He helped that team. Played 15 min, 4-5 reb, 4-5 pts. Jack Wilson moves well and is not clutzy like some huge guys are. He moves with freedom and purpose, can...

Coaching Changes says source they trust: Muss already sending 3rd party inquiries to Minnesota and ASU as well as several less realistic spots

Judge ruled that Univ. Of Illinois couldn’t suspend Shannon, but Underwood as coach could have. Shockingly, chose not to.

Do you see 3-4 more BIG 10 WINS?

OSU hasn't won a BTN game away from Columbus. Teams are shooting well against them, esp. 3's (nearly 36%). Their defense has given up waaay too many easy baskets and they don't turn teams over. After their great start early on, their offense has shot poorly (esp. 3's) the last ten games...

Do you see 3-4 more BIG 10 WINS?

6 more conf wins, and 2 more in BTN tournament in Mpls. MN still has a "big upset" win remaining, like we seem to have most years, and the closer 1-2 possession games we can win. Big upset win no one sees coming...@Illinois or @Purdue..? Would be terrific.

Ben Johnson is NOT a disaster....

Don't know about "best". Just offering a perspective to the CBJ-hating threads that are constantly posted here. Not all, but many.

Ben Johnson is NOT a disaster....

A few notes of coaching comparison. Mike Krzyzewski, arguably the greatest college bb coach of all time, started at Duke in '80-'81 season, and his first three years were BAD. '80-81 17-13 (6-8 conf.) '81-'82 10-17 (4-10 conf.) '82-'83 11-17 (3-11 conf.) CBJ first three years thus...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN ST IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

CBJ had to find out what matchups were going to work going into the sec half. Dump the zone which got shredded—wasn't a bad strategy bec PSU hasn't been able to shoot 3's, but sadly MN zone is no Syracuse-Boeheim zone. This team is a man-to-man team. Ihnen wasn’t going to get to the rim—get...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN ST IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Ok we are now WELL aware that Christie and Mitchell are not PGs, and MN is not going to chuck 3’s trying to get back in this game. Play in the paint has been dismal for 2weeks. Am hoping Thor starts the second half to occupy some space. PSU is overplaying so much that any fakes or back cuts...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN ST IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The problem teams have in BTN is shooting 3’s on the road. Thor should get overdue minutes, and Clary/Hawkins matchup will be good between equal-sized guards. Clary more of a rim chaser. If MN brings a proper defensive strong effort, and makes shots they should win. Nothing special.

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Agree that if the play was to shoot from that position, going against momentum to sideline, it would have been tough. Not sure it was designed for him to shoot from there. Probably not imo. His angles were bad. Who knows? It was well defended but Mitchell was sped up and botched it. It is...

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

This loss was 100% on the players, not CBJ. The strategy of defending the low post without help or doubles was playing to the strengths of Garcia and Payne, as Wisc has shredded teams that double down. The plan nearly worked, but Hawkins turnover, crucial bad decisions, Mitchell dribbling out...

    Who 👃 an upset?

My optimistic views of this MN Gopher season have been well-addressed, but their record right now exactly at my preseason prediction at this point for overall and conf. play. I'm hoping/calling MN to win 10 BTN conf. games, finish 19-12, playing for NCAA spot in Minneapolis BTN tourney! MN...

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Previewing Wisconsin matchup in the Barn, we have the GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY. Any combination thereof will determine the outcome of tonight's border battle. The GOOD. Wisconsin defends close 2's and dunks VERY poorly, giving up FG% of 67.2% and 94.1% respectively. Conversely, Minnesota...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The biggest challenge for MN tonight will be the most difficult thing for all BTN teams this season--making 3's on the road. I don't know if its a lighting issue, the Barn has stage lighting/dark background while others (ex: Assembly Hall) have a completely lighted fan section. Regardless, I...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I was in the Barn for the MSU loss! Earvin hit a face-guarded jumper from the elbow with a couple seconds left to lift Sparty to victory. Was a crazy good environment.

Hey guys, I've been in a coma since the 2009 Tubby Final Four team. What's the current state of the union with Minnesota men's basketball?

Well I don't know the details about Shannon, Reggie Lynch, or Mel Tucker and don't really have any way to find out. I'm just glad that MN is recruiting kids that seem to be distancing themselves from those potential situations, and CBJ deserves some credit for going after the "right guys"...
