From PioPress: Athan, O-line, injuries, safeties

I saw CB Terell Smith at the MSP Airport this past week. Not sure where he was headed? but he was decked out in Gopher gear, head to toe. Looked healthy... no limp or cast or anything that I noticed. Chatted with him for a moment or two. He said things were going well. Very nice young guy. He...

    Boye to the Vikes

No doubt.. just like trading all of those high Vikings draft picks, which were used by the Cowboys to select RB Emmitt Smith, DL Russell Maryland, and numerous others... for Herschel Walker :oops: later that same decade

    Boye to the Vikes

The Vikings did just that in the 1981 draft, if my memory serves me correctly. Traded their 1st round draft choice for a pair of second round selections, and wound up taking WR Mardye McDole and RB Jarvis Redwine. Good strategy for the budget-conscious franchises ;)

Jerry Kill - New Mexico State

I take it you never attended a home game when Lou was coaching in dinkytown? The place was rocking like the Penn St. game a couple of years ago.

    Casey Thompson Yammering

Wasn't former Gopher head coach Cal Stoll quoted one time as he brought the Gophers to Nebraska nearly 1/2 century ago for a clash of Big 10 vs. Big 8 teams... it was a Friday, the day of the walkthrough before the Saturday game... and the rickety, old Gopher team bus rolled past the Nebraska...

Jerry Kill - New Mexico State

If Lou Holtz would have made Minnesota his permanent home... like Barry Alvarez did in Madison... the Gophers would have made multiple trips to Pasadena, too. IMHO, Lou's achievements in Dinkytown would have exceeded Barry's accomplishments, in terms of winning percentages, Big 10 Championships...

Remembering former Gopher head coach Jim Wacker

Jim Wacker was an outstanding human being. I enjoyed him very much, and wished he would have had more success so that he would have been around here longer. He was a credit to the "U" and to the state of Minnesota. His offenses were fun to watch. He wanted to take advantage of leading a...

Ranking the loudest stadiums in the Big Ten (#8. TCF Bank Stadium)

For those who attended Gopher games in the Dome, things got quite loud and even a little intimidating during the Holtz years of 1984-'85. BTW, I've never been to Bloomington, Indiana for a Hoosier home game, but I would anticipate that they will climb the rankings this year and beyond.

Starting in 2024 - conference realignment

I agree with you on both of your points here.

Starting in 2024 - conference realignment

Looks like the Big 10 West plus the old Big 8 North = The "Great Plains Conference" ??? Would be devastating financially and harmful to the brand for numerous charter members of the Big 10. For the gophers ---> lose a lot of luster and a significant step back vs. current positioning within the...

Board of Regents vote approves contract for Ben Johnson, the Gophers new head men’s basketball coach

Jimmy Williams, for Round 2 ????? iirc, that cost the "U" a couple hundred thousand $$

Sid Hartman: Gophers can change fortunes in back-to-back openers against Michigan and Ohio State

It's ideal to catch a 'blueblood' when they're down. This year, I anticipate Michigan will be down (maybe way down?)... Meanwhile, PJ will have the fellas ready to go in 3 weeks. Final score: Minnesota - 31 Michigan - 23

@hungan1... I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of your wife. What a gift to be able to spend those last hours together as family, particularly on the weekend of your wedding anniversary! I offer my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers for you and your family. May God bless you and...

Gophers vs. TCU just got a bit easier in 2015...

TCU safety Chris Hackett will forego his senior season and, like Maxx Williams, will enter the 2015 NFL draft... "...TCU runs a 4-2-5 defensive set, and Hackett's departure would means the Horned Frogs -- who are set to return 10 offensive starters -- will need to replace five of their back...
