God bless the SEC rule about no inter-conference transfers!!!!

VA Tech QB Dylan Wittke Commits

Nice prospect, but doesn't really address our need for a QB behind Brosmer with a few college snaps under his belt.

Matt Birk: If college athletes enter the transfer portal they shouldn't be eligible for NIL money.

Doesn't this just incentivize schools to cheat by offering players far above the collective bargaining agreement, as under-the-table payments?

Matt Birk: If college athletes enter the transfer portal they shouldn't be eligible for NIL money.

He was also an 6 time pro bowl Center, which is considered the 2nd most cerebral position on the offense behind QB.

On a side note, I think Cody Lindenberg, Devean Eastern & Jah Joyner (of our defensive players who've played a lot) all have chances to be drafted in the next year or two.

Which means he'll probably measure 5' 9.5" at the combine, will likely run a pedestrian 4.48 40 & isn't nearly quick enough to play the slot on the NFL, imo. Maybe someone will take him in the 7th round, or as an UDFA? He's a gamer, there's always an outside chance. This isn't to hate on...

    Projected O/D Depth Chart

We could REALLY use a run stuffing nose guard. We have talent along the DL, but are very thin at the 1 technique .

I'm not sure I see Walley as an NFL player. He's got neither the size, nor the speed the NFL is looking for in a CB. I think he might be a guy who's just a very good college player?

We have one single QB with a college snap under his belt, and that was in the Coastal Athletic Association, not the B1G.

All Things Jaxon Howard Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, COMMITS TO GOPHERS!!)

Slow down partner. We have a pretty good Senior penciled to start at Rush End in Danny Striggow. It'd be VERY surprising if Howard started accross from Joyner this Fall.

I didn't mean that as a starting five. I was just doing a head count. I also forgot about Grove again.

U Twitter: PG1 is BACK‼️ @eslimee_ will return for his senior season at Minnesota!

Ok, so we've got... PG- Hawkins PG- Asuma SG- Mitchell SF- Betts PF- Garcia SF- Christie maybe. It's almost a certainty he's going to declare for the NBA, and I'd be shocked if he returned if he's a 1st rounder. 2nd rounder, we might get him back. PF- Fox maybe. I don't think his knees...

    Spring Practice Observations

He's still a really good RT, and 2 time All B1G HM, but pass blocking is certainly his weakness. I hope for Carroll's sake someone can step up, and give us a similar level of play at RT, so he can showcase himself for the NFL at his natural position of Guard, in his final year.

All Things Jaxon Howard Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, COMMITS TO GOPHERS!!)

Jaxson Howard to the Gophers makes a lot of sense. We have a huge hole at his specific position of rush DE behind Danny Striggow who's in his last season. As long as he's not chasing NIL, which rumor has it he's not, then this could happen. My instinct says it's more likely to happen, than not.

    Dallas Hayden portal

Not a position of need, not much playing time to offer, & he's probably not going to come cheap. Better to use our resources elsewhere, imo.

    Payne, Carrington, Ola-Joseph and Ihnen...

For better, or worse, I think that'll be Morgan. The two big glaring weaknesses on the team last year that needed to be addressed were having no PG who could defend bigger, stronger PG's, who were eating up Hawkins all season. Asuma is expected to help fill that role. The other was we had no...

    Payne, Carrington, Ola-Joseph and Ihnen...

We need 12 scholarship players, and don't have a lot of NIL money to spend. My problem with Ihnen last season was that he was our 9th man, played in 28 games, and averaged 11.4 minutes a game. We need to upgrade. Kris Keinys was our 12th man last season, played in 5 games, and averaged 4.2...
