GopherHole Live Chat with Daniel House at 2 p.m. CT!

    1) I remember a social post suggesting B Oliver was hurt just before practice shut down. I have no idea if true or how serious. Regardless, what's your take on how the LBs are stacking up for fall? 2) Am also curious about who among the WRs you think are likely to contribute beyond the obvious...

Lonenoa Faoa commits to incoming Class of 2020

247 says 6-1 and 224 lbs. Possible upside as a Green-esque wildcat option? Looks fairly athletic.

KSTP Video: Fleck: 'We can get through this and be better because of it'

That is very true, and he might hate it because of that. I'm just wondering if he might look for a different kind of challenge after, say, 25 years as a HC. He would still be a relatively young guy and I can't see Fleck wanting to just retire or do TV commentary stuff (assuming he's healthy...

KSTP Video: Fleck: 'We can get through this and be better because of it'

Call me crazy, but I can see him running for office some day. His desire to change cultures and move mountains could translate to politics. He's still such a young guy and the coaching thing might become boring to him at some point. Much stranger things have happened.

"I Just Think We're Doomed To Go 9-3 The Rest Of My Life"

I'm starting to think the same thing. The Gophers had a certain calmness and confidence this year that I've never seen them have before. They just seem to know how to execute when the game is on the line. No more drooping shoulders and defeated body language when something goes wrong. Compare...

ESPN: Wide Receiver tiers in the draft

Yes, I absolutely agree the "cancel culture" and trial-by-social-media thing is beyond ridiculous. At no point did I express an opinion about his guilt or innocence or character. However, right or wrong, being accused of sexual assault, arrested for sexual assault, suspended from school...

ESPN: Wide Receiver tiers in the draft

True, but those are not remotely similar situations. AW jr went to the party to break it up, not participate. Cephus hopped into bed with two drunk girls (one possibly incapacitated?) and then admitted to lying to police about his teammate (also suspended 2 games) having taken pictures of it...

ESPN: Wide Receiver tiers in the draft

Cephus is the one that caught my eye. Identical size to TJ, 4.73 in the 40, some legal problems in his background, and nowhere near as productive. Not sure why anyone would rank him above Johnson.

Tenure Rankings of all 130 FBS Coaches

It's amazing to think that after only 3 years, PJ is already slightly above middle of the pack nationally at #61. I don't have any data but it sure feels different from 20-30 years ago.

Belated PJ Fleck Interview Report 3-1-20 (better late than never edition)

Both of these things can be true simultaneously; do everything you can to put the ball into the hands of your best athletes and the offense can be made stronger overall if the TE is a legit threat once in a while. The Auburn game might have turned out differently without those 2 clutch catches...

    Tanner Morgan thoughts

Not sure how to research it but I seem to recall that the Mason-era teams ran for 400+ yards several times...and lost most of those games. I think the dropped punt snap loss to Wisconsin was a 400+ game, too? Amazing when you think about it.

    Tanner Morgan thoughts

Anywho can't remember if it was the first or second snap but the entire Bobcat defensive front broke through and destroyed Khaliq. He literally had to be scraped off the Metrodome turf. He continued to play but I think by today's rules he would have been under concussion protocol for a while. I...

Minnesota to hire Paul Haynes as cornerbacks coach

Getting back to Haynes as a CB position coach, this guy has an amazing resume if you look at it in sequence. Consistent upward trajectory until 2017. Hard to imagine a better background, on paper anyway: 2002, Louisville, secondary coach 2003, Michigan State, secondary coach 2004, Michigan...

    Tanner Morgan thoughts

A lot of people seem to assume Kramer is buried on the depth chart and destined to transfer. I'm not so sure about that. The times that I've watched him in scrimmages and drills, he consistently outperformed Clark. Has a super-tight throwing motion, quickest release on the team to my eyes. Also...

Jornell Brooks and Erik Gibson Medically Retire

Good call, I totally forgot about Geary. He's a good athlete and been in the system a while now, could easily be the new #4 guy. Similar height/weight to Brown-Stephens, not sure if that means anything.

Jornell Brooks and Erik Gibson Medically Retire

The times I've watched Nnamdi in scrimmages and drills, he hasn't looked very impressive. Not convinced he's athletic enough to play WR, would bet he ends up at TE. Brown-Stephens, on the other hand, has looked very sharp every time I've seen him in action. Great hands and leaping ability, not...

    Tyler Johnson official 40 time?

I'll go with 4.65 to 4.70. I just don't think Johnson is very fast. But I do think he is plenty fast to have a solid NFL career. Back in the '90s, the Vikings drafted a slot WR from Alabama named David Palmer. Bama fans still talk about "The Deuce" and all the amazing punt and kick returns he...
