    B1G bowl affiliations for ‘20-‘21

I feel like a better idea would be to simply play the CFP after bowl season. That way, you have full power matchups in the NY6. This year, that would have gotten you something like: Rose: #2 OSU vs. #6 Oregon Sugar: #1 LSU vs. #4 OU Orange: #3 Clemson vs. #5 Georgia Fiesta: #7 Baylor vs. #8...

    B1G bowl affiliations for ‘20-‘21

I feel like the perfect way to make this board lose its mind is by the Gophers making the CFP only to be assigned to Sugar instead of Rose because a higher seed snagged Rose.

Transfer Rules: Big Ten Proposes to allow every athlete to transfer once without sitting a year

This is an interesting idea. So, essentially preserving the current rules minus the eligibility piece. Would you then get rid of the hardship waiver as well?

    Reading between the lines

Yeah, some folks here dont seem to understand the value of having TEs as receiving threats, regardless of whether they're the best option on a given play. It's not a binary choice between Bateman on a 60 yard bomb or BSF on a 10 yard out route. It's the fact that BSF is one more receiving threat...

Transfer Rules: Big Ten Proposes to allow every athlete to transfer once without sitting a year

Yes, I think there would have to be reasonable limitations. I would say that it would have to either be the position coach for that player's position OR the head coach. In both cases, the player would have a reasonable argument for their development and career prospects being materially affected.

    Reading between the lines

I suspect that this board is also trying to figure out how to replace the production and skills of an All B1G first team receiver, one of the greatest in our history. Dynamic TEs can be a significant difference maker in any offense. They create significant mismatches in coverage, loosen up...

    Reading between the lines

Agree, I’m just wondering why we spent most of the year using TEs to block instead of trotting out another OL (7 man OL, since we used a 6 man OL+TE quite a bit anyway).

    Reading between the lines

So, I'm probably missing something, but what is the benefit of using a TE instead of an extra OL to block when your offense never passes to them? Seems like if you don’t have the threat of them being a receiver, all you’ve got is a blocker who isn’t as effective as a normal OL.

Wonder what these numbers would look like if you included payments from bag men ;)

Transfer Rules: Big Ten Proposes to allow every athlete to transfer once without sitting a year

I'm all for it. In a sport where coaches and schools earn millions of dollars, I love how folks get high and mighty about the concept of loyalty from student athletes. The onus should be on schools to make it an attractive place for the players to stay. At the very least, I believe that if the...

ESPN: How each Top 25 college football team wins next season's national title

Keep in mind that an outside observer also sees this as "Minnesota loses 6+ starters, including a Consensus All-American on defense, while losing an All B1G 1st Team WR and their starting RB on offense". They dont benefit from the more nuanced understanding that most of this board has, and...

Which position group makes the biggest leap next year?

FWIW I dont think that was directed at you, it was directed at the other poster who made the comment about Logan Richter.

This is a great point, though Petras has better and more developed weapons around him that Nate Stanley did.

Forgot about Wirfs, I was thinking about Alaric Jackson. He got hurt early last year, but I think he was their highest potential guy last year.

ESPN: How each Top 25 college football team wins next season's national title

Iowa will be a huge early test, especially for our young defense. They return their best players at OL, RB, WR, and TE. If we can beat them, I feel very optimistic about how the rest of our season will shake out.

Which position group makes the biggest leap next year?

Agree. I'm actually excited about the DT position moving forward. Also, I'm excited to see what Mafe and Esezi can do in full-time starting roles.

Which position group makes the biggest leap next year?

I wouldn't put my hopes too high for Richter to have any sort of meaningful impact in 2020. He's high upside for sure, but the guy was a big project coming out of HS.
