    "Big 10 Tradition"

Lol, it is, every B1G conference game. The band does not play the opposing school's song during non-conference games though, instead playing Go Gopher Victory in the same place. However, if you usually sit on the home sideline, the entire band turns to face the away side when playing the other...

    "Big 10 Tradition"

I've watched some other, original B1G member bands's pregame show and some of them also call it out as a B1G pregame tradition IIRC. But it would not shock me if the PAC didn't do this, and so the change would be jarring to their fans if they didn't explain why they were doing it.

*IF* The Gophers win out, do they make the playoffs?

I voted no. Mostly because I don't see a 9-3 team making it in this year unless all of their 3 losses are to teams also making it into the playoffs. At the moment, I don't think any of our 3 losses are making it into the playoffs, so we won't either. If we win out, best I see happening is: 1...

    KC and AK

It's so refreshing to have a QB that actually progresses through his reads (when the OL manages to give him the time to do so) and makes (mostly) smart decisions.

News coming Monday on potential Rule Breaking by UCLA?

I think it's not that they submitted the same report as the previous week, but rather the B1G posted the wrong report. I think our report was the same as the previous week, listing Baranowski as "OUT" instead of questionable, which seems to contradict what I heard about him being a "Game time...

    Kicker

It's really wild the difference from last year to this year. Something must have changed this year with how he is being coached or how he is practicing or something.

Great time for a Bye Week

I'm actually mildly hopeful for the return of Maverick Baranowski after the bye week. Saw him on the sidelines yesterday, so he traveled with the team, and additionally he had no cast or sling or anything on, so the shoulder injury might not be as I had initially feared. Time will tell though.

The B1G TV deal is a tale of two cities

I hate the increasing amount of commercials when I attend a game in person. I think the U does a good job filling those TV timeouts with things that contribute to a fun atmosphere, but I may be biased. At almost every away game I've been to, the the in-stadium atmosphere has been poorer than we...

    The Band Pit

It's definitely on the rarer side, but it has happened. Ohio State, Nebraska, and Iowa have all had their bands travel to our stadium once since it opened.

Gophers football: 1962 Rose Bowl was a program pinnacle but came after protests and trash talk

Just looked it up out of curiosity: $6 in 1962 is equivalent to $62.96 today.

Gophers currently have the #1 pass defense in the nation

For some extra context, here's where our past and future opponents currently rank for passing offense: North Carolina: 50 Rhode Island: 76 (FCS ranking) Nevada: 99 Iowa: 127 Michigan: 129 USC: 20 UCLA: 95 Maryland: 12 Illinois: 84 Rutgers: 102 Penn State: 57 Wisconsin: 78 Average opponent...

    The Band Pit

As a fellow former band member I agree. In addition, I would say that there should be some extra railing or something that discourages students from trying to rush the field through the band pit. Then, field rush protocol can become "Stay put in the pit until the field is clear enough that it...

MN won’t get fined for storming the field.

Storming the field after an upset is something I view as unique to college football (maybe it happens in the NFL, but I don't think so?). It's stupid that the SEC fines schools for this.Glad the B1G has shown they won't do this. As far as the safety angle, Slab is right, it's generally easy to...

I'm worried PJ will become a thrill seeking degenerate play calling gambler now

I actually view this as an evolution of Fleck's version of Tressleball. If you look at our last drive, it is textbook Tressleball. Run the ball, bleed the clock, force the opponent to use up their timeouts so they don't have them when they get the ball back. If USC didn't have their timeouts...

Will the team travel at a different time to UCLA?

Wouldn't shock me if PJ has the players adjusting their schedules (within reason) this week even before they travel. Obviously they already practice in the early mornings (unless that's changed since PJ first became HC), but I wonder if there are other things they do during the day they can...

Damn, USC out of the top 25

That, and because USC's only other loss was to Michigan, who lost to Washington and proceeded to drop from #10 all the way to #24. So now USC has a loss to the #24 ranked team (who has 2 losses) and an unranked team (with 3 losses). I bet if Michigan had won in a convincing fashion, and moved...

Describe the Gophers win over USC in 1 sentence

Better than beating Penn State in 2019? Just curious, what makes this one better? For me Penn State in 2019 still takes the cake, but this one is a solid #2.
