2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

I love college basketball, I truly do (and much more so than the NBA). But it took nearly 25 minutes of real time to play the final 42 seconds of that game. There were 4 timeouts, 3 possession reviews, an injury stoppage and multiple fouls. College hoops needs to clean up how the end of their...

Coyle to be Extended to 2030

An "enhanced longevity bonus"? So he's rewarded for just staying around? What kind of incentive is that? Tie some of his comp to hitting certain fundraising benchmarks or attendance metrics...you know, things that are linked to department revenue.

    Tim Brewster

He's in a fiery competition with Jerry Kill to see which former Gophers head coach can rack up the most post-Minnesota coaching stops.

2023-2024 College Football Coaches Hired/Fired Thread

You've got to think that the new world of NIL and the portal is going to continue to push coaches out of the college game (especially older coaches who made their bones in a system without either). Saban retires. Harbaugh goes to the NFL. And now P5 head coaches (Hafley at BC and Kelly) are...

Coaching Changes says source they trust: Muss already sending 3rd party inquiries to Minnesota and ASU as well as several less realistic spots

And in the Sweet 16 in Year 3 and a missed Lynch three from the Final Four in Year 4. If you think Ben Johnson is within multiple time zones of doing that you’re way past due for your reality check.

Coaching Changes says source they trust: Muss already sending 3rd party inquiries to Minnesota and ASU as well as several less realistic spots

Man whose job and multi-million dollar salary depend on winning elects not to suspend person who can help him win. That tracks.

That hasn't kept Rick Pitino from getting jobs at other schools (not saying the U would take him), so I think we might need a lower floor.

    Next Gopher Head Coach

Next year we have a shot at a Sweet 16...in the conference.

    All Things Weakling Wednesday

Per Rothstein, starting next year, only 15 of the conference's 18 teams will make the BT tournament, so at the pace our program is moving we could be longing for the days of playing on Weakling Wednesdays. https://x.com/JonRothstein/status/1750916845505216910?s=20

    University of Minnesota President's job?

Sing it with me..."The church bell chimed 'til it rang 29 times for the wreck of the Wis-con-sin Badgers" (Iowa Hawkeyes can also be substituted)

ESPN: Sources: Jim Harbaugh accepts head coaching job with Chargers

I've said it before on another thread, but this morning I re-asked my Michigan booster buddy (he and his family are MAJOR donors to athletics and the university) about Fleck as Harbaugh's successor. His response? "No fucking way is he coaching at Michigan." Sherrone Moore is getting that job.

ESPN: Sources: Jim Harbaugh accepts head coaching job with Chargers

He has unfinished business in the NFL, including matching his brother by winning a championship there. That's why it makes sense that he won a college title and moved on to achieve other things.

    University of Minnesota President's job?

Holy hell, say that isn't so. She only looks marginally more competent because of the clown who succeeded her.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

I was there too, driving 18 hours from the Cities with my buddies. The games were legendary, the partying non-stop and the food and weather were incredible. I'll never forget going down there, those were some of the best sporting events I've ever watched (and I was at Games 6 and 7 in the '91...

6 years later, are we still pleased with the uniform redesign?

There wasn't a single solitary thing that was good about that uniform. I mean, where to start? The use of gold/khaki instead of yellow, which is our school color. Not sure where the hell this ever came from The EKG monitor pattern across the chest with the unfortunate flatline (which happened...

Antoine Winfield Jr. named NFC defensive player of the month

LOL...and I'm a Packers fan too. I probably should've been able to remember back 2 whole years ago. :)
