Evanston approves Northwestern's new $800M stadium

Further complicating things is the fact that the NFL schedule hasn't been finalized yet, so they're likely having to work with the Bears and the NFL to figure out whether they can work Northwestern's already scheduled dates into schedule planning to align when the Bears will be on the road or on...

Evanston approves Northwestern's new $800M stadium

For both football AND baseball! They stuck their heads in the sand for both until the yelling got too loud and they were forced to do something, then made panic moves. Truly incredible their AD still has a job.

Evanston approves Northwestern's new $800M stadium

Northwestern has no place to play next year, so they're actually considering building a temporary field along the lakefront. Their administration's management of this has been comically bad. I mean, it's not like Ryan Field was unexpectedly leveled by a tornado. They've been campaigning for this...

Court Hearing on whether NIL rules can be legally enforced

That's been the game plan to beat back NCAA sanctions for more than a decade now. They've become toothless when they have to defend their rules in court, and its member institutions know it.

    Taison Chatman coming home?

I'm not sure if any basketball program does the Prodigal Son thing better than the Gophers, with players committing elsewhere before coming back home to play. This is a list from the last 25 years off the top of my head: Ben Johnson (Northwestern) Kris Humphries (Duke - commit only) Rick...

    Annies Parlor

I still can't believe they couldn't or wouldn't relocate the restaurant somewhere else on campus. That one still stings. Happy to hear Annie's is on the way back, though. Both were my absolute favorite places to eat on campus.

Lefty Driesell passes away at 92

He was a bit before my time (his great run ended about '81 and I didn't start really watching college basketball until about '82 or '83). Plus, I'm not a native Chicagoan, so DePaul hoops is about as relevant to me as it is to anyone in Chicago under 50.

Lefty Driesell passes away at 92

Sadly, most of the great and charismatic coaches I grew up watching in the early '80s, and who helped me fall madly in love with college basketball, have died. Lefty, Bobby Knight, Dean Smith, John Thompson, Jim Valvano, Rollie Massimino, Guy Lewis, Jud Heathcote, Lou Henson, Billy Tubbs, Lute...

    Gopher Uniforms

Our throwbacks are awesome looking, and so are the ones that Ohio State and Illinois wear. Clean, simple and really good looking. Uniform design used to be so much better... Then there's the horrible dreck that Rutgers and Indiana were wearing yesterday (I'm looking at you, Adidas). Ugh.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT IOWA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Looking like how Wisconsin blew a huge lead at Nebraska. They haven’t been the same since. Hopefully we can right the ship.

If Fleck leaves, who should realistically be on Coyle’s immediate call list?

He’s a shaper of men. Just not in a gay kind of way.

    University of Minnesota President's job?

Agree, but when just one of the final three candidates comes from a university we would aspire to be, that doesn’t lend a great deal of confidence to the process or what people think of the job.

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

UCLA is a gorgeous campus, much nicer than the U's. Westwood has a cool college town vibe, and the campus is nestled at the edge of Brentwood, so the surrounding neighborhood is kinda nice, too.

    University of Minnesota President's job?

Academic powerhouses Cleveland State and New Mexico. We're in good hands.

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

PJ leaves and we hire Mike Vrabel. Big 10 guy gets a chance to take a perpetually middling program to the next step. Or...he says hell no to the circus of college football and takes a paid year off before getting another NFL job in 2025.

    Media Coming Together?

That's what I thought, too. I'm no antitrust attorney, but this looks very monopolistic.
