Why not bring back College Game Day for the Ohio State game at Minnesota?

Clemson-Georgia is always going to pull Gameday over... pretty much any possible other match-up that doesn't involve those two teams.

USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Preseason Poll (#4 Ohio State, #15 Wisconsin, #17 Indiana, #18 Iowa, #20 Penn State)

For what it's worth (not much), that's not quite what this poll means. It's not that coaches collectively think that we are not in the top 60, just that none think we are in the top 25. We'd still not be receiving votes if every voter in the country had us at #26. Extrapolating a top 25 ballot...

Bateman limps out of Ravens practice

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30995074/ "A total of 3,009,205 athlete exposures and 2460 knee injuries were reported from 2004 to 2014: 1389 MCL, 522 ACL, 269 lateral meniscal, 164 medial meniscal, and 116 PCL. Athletes experienced all knee injuries at a significantly higher rate when...

Bateman limps out of Ravens practice

The combination of field turf and cleats together has made a huge difference. Unlike grass, where sufficient torque will break off a chunk of dirt and roots, sharp twisting movements on turf transmit almost all of that force to the knee ligaments.

Better or Worse? Previewing Minnesota's defense in 2021

The author is totally right, Oliver was basically invisible on the field last year! You'd think he never even suited up for a game. (otherwise this was a decent summary)

Why is Iowa struggling with 2022 recruiting? Kirk Ferentz’s age (66 as of Aug. 1) is a significant factor.

I suppose the flip side is that it's also considered one of the most difficult positions to project from high school, and many of the top juniors and seniors in CFB every year were low-to-mid 3 star recruits.

Official 2022 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

I don't remember who made the point (it was some time ago and in the 2021 thread, I think?), but to have a strong two-deep a team really only needs about 8-9 players per class to be contributors (with redshirts, 9x5=45). Obviously bringing in 20 good to great recruits dramatically increases the...

Shooter: Despite returning 10 offensive starters, good guess on the Gophers’ football season: A 6-6 finish.

I see 7-5 as more of a floor barring significant injuries. I just can't see us getting swept in the underdog games (OSU, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin) AND dropping both Maryland and Purdue.

2021 Big Ten Media Day Thread

The twitter preview is cutting it off a bit. The left photo is an old comic pane of two people in the same Spiderman outfit pointing at each other, and is often used to imply that two things are the same as each other (for example, you could make that meme with Scott Frost and Mike Riley...

That crystal ball metric represents the percentage of raters who forsee them going to a given school, not the level of certainty of any individual rater or 247 as a whole. Since most players (including Holloman) only have one CB, they will show as 100%, making the percentage they show pretty...

PFF: Daniel Faalele's NFL comp is The Mountain from GoT (could make his way into the Top 5, Top 10 of the NFL Draft)

Reminds me a lot of David Cobb that he is so hard to get down solo or at first contact. He so consistently gets 1+ YAC that it adds up to make a big impact on the game.
