Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose Floyd After Embarrassing 2nd Half

"We're more talented than Iowa yet again ...."? If you had seen tonight's game you would know how untrue that is.

Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose Floyd After Embarrassing 2nd Half

Based on overall talent level Iowa is not a beatable rival for Minnesota. Schemes and coaching mean little when you are being physically manhandled. The only serious criticism of Fleck and his staff is that they cannot recruit enough talent to win in the Big Ten.

What grade would you give the Gophers coaching in the loss to Iowa?

There's not much choice when you have a weak offensive line.

Breaking: Iowa Favored by 2.5 Points Over Gophers at Minnesota ** UPDATE ** Iowa By 3 Now **

I'm sure Iowa has more than one back who could run through those holes. These highlights show a dominating line opening huge gaps.

Breaking: Iowa Favored by 2.5 Points Over Gophers at Minnesota ** UPDATE ** Iowa By 3 Now **

It will be easier to run against Iowa (or anyone else) if the short and medium passing game works. We set up the run with the pass. Completing short and medium passes forces the defense to play the whole field every down, opening up running lanes.

P.J. Fleck compares freshman Kerry Brown to Antoine Winfield Jr., Tyler Nubin

The beauty in all of this is that we hear about these guys when they commit, and on signing day, but then not much at all for a year ... sometimes two or three years. And yet, buried in all those names there are young guys growing up who will soon remind their coach of Gopher greats. That's a...

P.J. Fleck compares freshman Kerry Brown to Antoine Winfield Jr., Tyler Nubin

Whoa ... Time Out called on that kind of talk. (Fleck call it; I didn't. And he still has one left).

    Lincoln Kienholz -

I would rather have Ohio State's fifth best (or sixth or seventh) cornerback next year.

    WHO HATES IOWA?

Additional side note: Troy played at Iowa without their starting quarterback. Out with injury. The Iowa defense will go from facing Troy's second and third QBs to facing Max Brosmer.

Updated AP Top 25 rankings - Nebraska #23

Given that last year's Big Ten Kicker of the Year missed twice in a two-point loss in the opener, you are right. With a small correction of an abberation, you would not be right.

** How Many Games Will the Gopher Win? ** Pulse Vote After Crushing Nevada

That's a lot of pessimism about a team that just shut out two opponents in a row and features a quarterback completing about 70% of his throws. Toss in a great running back and three or four good ones behind him. Using your words "realistically" and "opportunity", the Gophers have a chance to...

** How Many Games Will the Gopher Win? ** Pulse Vote After Crushing Nevada

There will be a lot of tape review on the Nevada / Troy and Iowa / Troy games this week.

Gophers football: Big injury concern looms going into Iowa rivalry game

By hoping it's not serious I think we are talking about only a game or two out. It would be surprising if we see him Saturday.

Post Game Thread: Gophers Dominate Nevada

It's not sportsmanship entirely. Fleck shows respect to most other coaches, especially a guy in his first year in the job.

It was never contemplated that Lindsey would redshirt. He is in intensive preparation to take over next year. The odds of a guy like Lindsey being in the program five years are nil.

Minnesota's P.J. Fleck still tinkering with offensive line before Big Ten schedule begins

The 2019 team started with three close non-conference wins. All were struggles. A big part of that tenuous start was offensive line play. As we got into conference schedule the line jelled and the rest is 11-2 history.

Max Brosmer produced the best passing grade in the nation in Week 2

You are correct that it "worked". We won the game. Can't agree with your take on AK's performance ... "AK's whole job was to make the highest % passes possible" ... Sixty percent of his throws were incomplete. Pretty terrible for only trying the easiest throws possible.

Poll: Who is your Gophers MVP in dominating win over Rhode Island?🏝️

Also, I think we will realize as the season goes on this version of the offense does not completely change the team's offensive philosophy. It is designed to open up running lanes with the ever-present possibility of the pass. A lot tougher to defend specifically to stop the run.
