HS Football Update - sort of

A school can close open enrollment whenever they want. They just have to set the rule and follow it for everyone. The law states that if you want you can allow only up to 1% of your resident student body as open enrolled students. So if you have 100 kids in a grade, you could allow 1 student and...

HS Football Update - sort of

Teams won't get that rough idea until about mid-May according to the directives handed down by the MSHSL so far. It would be nice to get that information sooner as finding officials has been getting worse and worse. Many games are going to have to be played on Thursday and Saturday nights next...

All Things 2023 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Oh, no short memory. Just looking forward from a cap perspective. Going into the off-season with their current contracts. The Vikings are $8 million over the cap for next year with only 41 players under contract for next year. I'm saying that they will need to make some major moves this...

Yeah, his contract is definitely an albatross on this team. He is a good QB, no doubt, but with all of the guaranteed money that he was given, at some point the Vikings are going to have to bite the bullet and take the dead cap hit. Extending him just kicks the can down the road. The Vikings...

Here's a great website to see the cap numbers for the roster. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/cap/ Peterson - Free Agent - Only was a $3.5 million cap hit this past season. Kendricks - Will cost you $1.5 million in dead cap and save you $9.5 million. GUARANTEED CUT Smith - Cut...

All Things 2022 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

That is an impressive win. To bounce back after the way they played last week was huge. Lose today and maybe the bad things start snowballing. I don’t think they are good enough to make noise in the playoffs but they will be there. Still need Darrisaw back and another guard and probably 2 CBs...

I think O’Connell falls too in love with the pass. They mix it up nice on the first drive but then they fall into the trap of nothing but passing. They are the opposite of the Gophers!

I sure wish they would try and run it on 3rd and 1 once in a while….

SOUND OFF! Post-Game Thread: Gophers Lose Heartbreaker to Hawkeyes, Again, Fleck Remains Winless vs Iowa.

Fleck would like to be a run-first, ball control, solid defensive team. I'd just like to be a team that wins more games. Don't care how it's done.

I completely agree, but the MSHSL does NOT care.

All Things 2022 Minnesota High School Football Thread

It would be awesome to see the smaller classes do crossover games at the section level. Direct quote from the MSHSL when this was proposed, "We don't care about the best teams making it to state. We want representation from all over the state." Of course that same "rule" doesn't apply to 6A...

This is exactly what is going in with HS football. The gap between the "haves" and "have nots" is growing ever wider, but I don't think that there is a clear answer on how to solve it. Any solutions are basically the MSHSL "picking winners". Every decision they make that is a "solution" for one...

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA BATTLE FOR THE AXE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Well, honestly the Gophers passing tree is basically just a stump. fade or slant. That’s all they have.

That pass play to Irving was actually well designed. Very nice.

Agreed. That is poor play design. Putting Tanner in a no-win situation there.

    Prep Bowl Discussion

I think L-O blasts Fertile. Their QB is an incredibly quick kid and their FB is just a tank running downhill. I think Chatfield beats West Central pretty handily as well even without their stud QB. Both the AA and 9-man Section 1 are loaded with good teams... I think the 9-man state championship...
