Ben Johnson is NOT a disaster....

I’m not going to celebrate Ben Johnson. Yet. But I sure as hell will celebrate every Gopher B1G win!

B1G vs SEC bowl games 2023/24

The SEC is better than the B1G. I don’t like it, but it’s true. It’s amazing that the B1G playoff team(s) always get so close and collapse each time. Get ready for another Bama championship. Yawn.

    2023-24 Other Bowl Games Thread

The upcoming SEC superiority narratives will be really annoying, but they’re probably true. Whatever, let them have it. College football and food are the two things the south excels at. At the end of the day, if the SEC is going to kick the B1G’s ass again, Wisconsin and Iowa may as well be at...

Farrell's CFB Tiers: Which Programs Should Be Considered the Sport's Best? (Tier 4: The bottom feeders that no one cares about nationally - Minnesota)

This tier list is a joke. No argument from me that Minnesota is essentially irrelevant in the “national conversation.” Who cares. But Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska in tier 2? UCF and Arizona above the Gophers in tier 3? I shouldn’t have given this shill what he wanted: a click.

FSU Want to leave ACC and come to B1G

As a fan of another ACC school, and as someone who’s lived in FSU country, we should not want FSU in the B1G. Super obnoxious, self-entitled, mostly redneck fanbase that does not at all fit the culture of the conference. They think they’re the only reason the ACC is a decent conference. And now...

    FCS Playoffs

How is it that northern and Midwest teams seem to dominate the FCS? It seems there are plenty of southeastern FCS schools, which are closer to recruiting hotbeds, so why don’t they dominate national championships like the SEC? Are those states so SEC obsessed that they just don’t invest in or...

    College Football is Dead

We’re like a small, unimpressive house in a rich neighborhood. Things are safe, predictable, affluent. But it’s clear where we sit in the pecking order.

GOPHERS IN QUICK LANE BOWL VS BOWLING GREEN

Oh boy. If we lose to Bowling Green again…

    College Football is Dead

Even helmet schools like FSU get screwed. This sport is a joke.

End of Regular Season Bowl Projections Thread

How often do non-CFP bowl teams have a rematch with a regular season opponent? Seems like it’s in everyone’s interest to avoid that outcome.

Trib says Gophers ARE going bowling

We’re lucky to be in a bowl, so I’m just hoping for somewhere that’s a decent location (not Detroit, Shreveport, etc) and an opponent we wouldn’t normally play.

Describe the Gophers loss to Badgers in 1 sentence

Nice having the Axe while it lasted.

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA PAUL BUNYAN AXE RIVALRY GAME LFG IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Well, at least this season isn’t giving us false hope for our true position in the B1G going forward. Being at the bottom of a super conference is going to suck.

    Jerry Kill

Jerry Kill stuff aside, I absolutely love seeing an SEC team get beat down at home by one of the late-season “cupcake” games they schedule each year.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

I told myself I wouldn’t watch the Gophers this year given Johnson’s predictably abysmal results. I saw the score on ESPN and, slightly hopeful, turned it on just after half. Just… wow. Didn’t take long to get back to total apathy. I’ll check back in when they hire a qualified coach.

Happy for old Jer. But no.

2023 SEC Championship Game: Alabama, Georgia to meet in Atlanta

Kinda depends. If you have an undefeated FSU, B1G champ, and Washington, then only one of Bama/UGA should get in. If only 2/3 above teams are undefeated, then I can see a 1-loss UGA and 1-loss SEC champ Bama making it.

2023 SEC Championship Game: Alabama, Georgia to meet in Atlanta

If Bama wins, I bet they both make the CFP.

I don't know where my fandom goes from here...

This is where I’m at. The inertia of loving college sports will take time to die, but I can tell already that my interest is waning. The Vikings may be cursed, but there’s no real structural obstacles to them being the next NFL dynasty. In the NBA and (especially) MLB, small market teams are at...

I don't know where my fandom goes from here...

I’m there with you. My emotions watching Minnesota teams are about 50% pain, 5% joy/fun, and 45% relief that I’m not feeling pain when they eek out a win. I’m just not going to watch any more games this season. Two embarrassing, inexplicable choke-jobs to conference opponents, one of which just...
