2023 College Basketball Transfer Portal Watch Thread

Sure nuance and planning is not the strong point of many young adults and some might not give a rats ass about anything more than how good the team is they will join, but that wasn't the argument that made me decide to chime in. The argument was more along the lines of how big of a draw...

I understand this, Minnesota isn't a big name/draw but it does come up at or near the top of any of these studies trying to quantify quality of life or happiness indexes by state. People won't be drawn to something they don't know about. This is where recruiting comes in you educate them on...

    Grace Grocholski Commits to Gophers!

I think she is staying around, she isn't considered a coach she is part of the extended staff and she is listed on the website with the rest of the staff but the coaches are not listed. The staff are generally retained i.e. Melissa Maines, Jan, Alisha, athletic trainers and performance staff...

    Any Interest in Aj Plitzuweit?

Nope. No reduced tuition for faculty or staff kids. Only reduced or free for faculty or staff themselves if they meet certain parameters. I.e. first degree, complete with c grade or better and is signed off by supervisor. Please share link to page and we can see what you are referring to.

No tuition benefits in the UofM system for children of faculty and staff going back over 20 years. I can't speak for before that time or the Minnesota State system, but I would highly doubt it. Most (all?) private schools in Minnesota do have an arrangement that children of faculty and staff...

Dawn Plitzuweit's Introductory Presser on Monday

She did actually mention the numbers 14 & 15 too, regarding roster size. Clearly, she she will be adding from the portal, which she said as much.

The Athletic: Best X and O Coach and Next Big Time Coach Survey

You are right to be skeptical, required qualifications are absolutely required at the U. They would have to pull the listing and realist the posting. I know several people who have hired at the U and they have had to relist positions because of issues with required experience.

Was the 6 year a ”required” qualification or desired qualification. One is iron clad the other is flexible. That is how the U and many places differentiate.

    Megan Duffy

What are you basing your call on? that is what is interesting, not the name at this point since the name has been out there for awhile.

I pretty much take this with a grain of salt unless I had some first hand information about this or there were multiple people stepping up with credibility, even then, people can mature/change. I have seen nothing but class from Shimmy when she has been here and I too would have liked her to be...

I would be apoplectic if I was a Troy fan. That will need to be reviewable going forward.

MSR: Whalen Steps Down: Comments from Coyle, Gray-Miller and Coquese Washington

Good point! I was really upset with the turnovers in the B1G tournament game. Toward the later half of the season they seemed better but I was upset with some of the late season game turnovers too. It is a good reminder that proven head coaches have players that make a mess of it in games too.

Souhan: It could've been a Minnesota showcase

Kadi's blossoming started the last 5 or 6 games of last year when she really put it together, but Souhan probably wasn't paying attention.

I was not advocating, these 2 are qualified the other 2 I don’t think are. That is my only point. If you don’t think they are please add to the discussion.

Yes, that is an excellent point but they still get somewhat of a reset when you go to a new "big time" D1 school and get experience with the success there. I'm not saying either of these would be my choice I could understand them being chosen but could not understand the other to choices...
