P.J. Fleck's Week 2 message to Gophers: 'Be a goldfish'

No kidding! What high-level recruit would want to put up with this childish talk? I know we get a few, but man, we'll never stack a roster with talent if the coach talks like a kindergarten teacher.

Why not be more skeptical of a newly hired head football coach here at Minnesota and more supportive of the existing coach?

Woo hoo. That's great. I know most of us love just getting up on Saturdays to watch a group of fine young, admirable student athletes competing, even if the coach is holding them back and seems to be an anchor to success. Give me thugs and future scandals/sanctions in exchange for advancing...

Why not be more skeptical of a newly hired head football coach here at Minnesota and more supportive of the existing coach?

The ol' fear of failure, huh? I don't follow enough other sports to know how many bad hires he has made, but even if it's a lot, wouldn't the law of averages be working in our favor then? You can only lose so many hands of blackjack before you get 21, right? ;) Joking aside, like I mentioned...

The headline in the Sunday newspaper will read?...

Who reads newspapers for sports news nowadays? I have an 83 year old uncle that might, but he's about the only one that doesn't get news elsewhere.

Why not be more skeptical of a newly hired head football coach here at Minnesota and more supportive of the existing coach?

I don't see this as a scare tactic anymore. We moved on from Mason and ended up with someone worse, but we got rid of that person in less than 4 years and tried again. To me, that's the way to do it. Don't stick with "status quo" just cuz you're afraid of the "unknown".

Ten Minnesotans to watch in college football this season who don’t play for Gophers

Man, certainly didn't work out for Townley heading to PSU as a 4*. Wasn't Kaden Johnson the top MN player, like a .93, that went to play OLB for the badgers?

Ten Minnesotans to watch in college football this season who don’t play for Gophers

Off the top of my head*, wasn't there a DT that went to Washington the same year we got Schuster from that state? *The reason I said "off the top of my head" was because I'm curious if something off the top of my head is something this writer missed while doing "research".

STrib: Gophers AD Mark Coyle says department might need a GM role to oversee ‘cap management’

Ummm...I'm not sure anyone offered you. Kinda funny though because just last month you were on here talking about how since you were a high school AD at one point, you could do Coyle's job for less money. And now this rant???

STrib: Gophers AD Mark Coyle says department might need a GM role to oversee ‘cap management’

In a vacuum, yes. But if I'm an athlete and other schools are offering me $x amount just for being on the team, whereas the Gophers are offering $x for not just being on the team, but with strings attached, well...the offer just doesn't seem as good.

Gophers Favored 2.5 Points in Season Opener UPDATE NOW 1 PT UNDERDOGS

I dunno, I don't think being up at halftime over tOSU was starting slow, nor was the beatdown we laid on Jerry's team two years ago. Heck, we even started out with a blocked punt and got up on Michigan in 2020. So I'd say 3 of the past 4 seasons we did not start slow, and then I'm not even...

STrib: Gophers AD Mark Coyle says department might need a GM role to oversee ‘cap management’

Typical gopher attitude. Offer athletic money to less qualified athletes for no reason related to the athletics. (And before people jump on me, I'll admit this doesn't really affect football since PJ makes them go to class. But still, I don't think it's the correct approach.)

Ranking the five softest head coaches in college football

I was kinda wondering the same thing...like I can't think of any former players just starting out as a P5 head coach, or heck, even a P5 coordinator. I remember him being in the news complaining about something, so maybe the author just disagrees with him. Loved the comment about Deion being a...

I get that it's fun to root against him, but I wouldn't call him soft by any means.

    2025 NFL Draft

I think once the season plays out there will be some sought-after guys. Ewers comes to mind for sure. I'd also look at Will Howard, former KSU quarterback now at tOSU. Others that might be sleepers but could have a good year would be KJ Jefferson, former Arkansas QB now at UCF under Guz...

    2025 NFL Draft

A solid player is worth taking anywhere. I'd be fine drafting him at #3 unless I really needed a QB and a great one was there. Speaking of that, I assume the mock only had seniors, as there is no way 3 QBs, especially Jalen Milroe, come off the board before Ewers does.

Culture Counts: Deion Sanders chaotic culture turns into locker room violence in Colorado

Give it a rest. It wasn't his "best" option - it was the only option where his dad could be the head coach. Not only was it for Deion, but then Deion can pretty much control any QB competition. Do you think he'd recruit someone that might take his son's spot? Nope. But the P5 schools would...
