B1G Game 10: Gophers Go to Penn State, January 28 5PM CST.

Her 3-point shooting percentage is almost equal to McKinney and Braun. She's in a slump and as the old saying goes, you don't get out of a slump by not shooting open 3's. Do you say the same thing when McKinney shoots 'em?

on that last 3,she was squared up and went straight up. Good.

B1G Game 10: Gophers Go to Penn State, January 28 5PM CST.

Tough defensive sequence there. In watching Brauns only 3-point attempt in the game, you could tell it was going be off well before she let the ball go. It's harder to tell on TV when she's on the other side of the floor, but I swear that at least a dozen to 15 3-pointers she's missed in the...

    I LOVE THIS TEAM

A classic example of why one should never judge a brand new team, coach, style of play based on a small snapshot early in the season. Good thing Nico didn't just throw his hands up and say 'These guys are hopeless, I give up!" like some fans did early in the season. Good thing the players dug...

    B1G Conference Job Rankings

You nailed that!! Born and raised in southern Minn. Lived there through age 22. I love my Twins, Vikings, Gophers and try to catch as many games as possible on TV. Recently drove 8 hours to watch the Gophers in Palm Desert, follow the Minnesota State Mavericks hoops teams casually on their...

Maybe coaches look at different coaching opportunities differently than we fans look at them.

    Jaylen Crocker-Johnson appreciation post!

He's been very solid, especially considering that we need him to play out of position (at least at the Big 10 level) for most of the season. I love remembering when so many on this board were adamant that he should never be allowed to shoot the 3 earlier this season, basing their knee-jerk...

    Injury Updates?

Was talking to a Division 2 play-by-play guy regarding injury updates on players. I'm not sure if it's a NCAA rule for everybody, but in D-2, coaches, training staff, ect. are very limited on what they are able to report regarding injuries because of the privacy concerns for student athletes...

BIG Game 8: Gophers @ Oregon Jan. 21

Good to see us finally take advantage of a defensive mistake by Oregon and knock down a 3. GG's had to do most of her work inside tonight.

BIG Game 8: Gophers @ Oregon Jan. 21

A defensive stop and a crazy 3 coming out of a time out is always a wonderful thing!

2 weeks off to deal with concussion issues, probably not much practice, will affect your conditioning.

BIG Game 6: Gophers travel to Washington 1-18-26

I didn't really notice the announcers much until very late in the game, when the Huskies post got matched up against Braun on a switch down near the low, right block. McGaughy made a spin and step through and the announcers were gushing about her footwork. As they were pointing out the great...

BIG Game 6: Gophers travel to Washington 1-18-26

Coach Techs are a 50/50 deal. Sometimes it can fire up a team that is unable to motivate themselves. Sometimes, you realize that you just dug yourself a 4-point hole. I prefer a coach who can let the ref know they don't agree with the call(s), but not go over the line. Most refs have about...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Well, I honestly thought that game went as well as could be expected. Especially for the 1st 30 minutes or so. They're better than us and at home. Our 2 stars had great games, nobody really stunk it up. That last 10-0 run late near the end of the game ended up being the difference. We still...

    Adding guys mid season

With the usual caveat of not having seen any practices or practice films, I'm guessing that Niko feels his team is better off running a worn down Asuma, Reynolds, Shinholster out there than a fresh Gizzi. Reminds me of the days when the Giants felt they'd rather play Barry Bonds at 60% of his...

    B1G Game 6: Gophers host UCLA 1-14-26

I've had a few successful coaches tell me that "there is no guarantee that I'll put you in a game, even a blow-out. You develop and earn my trust and confidence every day in practice. Once the player has done that by taking care of business, then you get playing time." It seems some of these...

    B1G Game 6: Gophers host UCLA 1-14-26

I honestly think we might be a top 60 team. On a great night with everything clicking, we can give anybody a good game. But like most Better Than Average, but not Great teams, it's going to be rare that everyone and everything is clicking at the same time. I've spent time around some pretty...

    B1G Game 6: Gophers host UCLA 1-14-26

If GG can't get open for decent looks from 3, what makes you think that Christian can? I don't think she's much faster, quicker or as adaptable as GG at this point. GG is about as good as we have at getting open for her shots, and UCLA gave her nothing. I mean, we worked pretty hard to get her...

    B1G Game 6: Gophers host UCLA 1-14-26

Almost all of GG's success tonight has been when she gets the ball in the paint and uses her old post moves. UCLA is doing a great job on her and the rest of the Gophers out on the perimeter. Even when we do get a rare open look from outside, UCLA closes very quickly with size in our face.

    B1G Game 6: Gophers host UCLA 1-14-26

We're doing a great job of preventing UCLA shots, but they're making the ones we give them. UCLA on the other hand is gumming up our offensive sets pretty badly. We can't seem to get a decent screen set. They're either effectively switching and hedging, or simply fighting over our screens...
