***OFFICIAL UCLA AND CRABBY CRONIN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

A number of players have improved as the season has progressed but probably no one more than Reynolds.

***OFFICIAL UCLA AND CRABBY CRONIN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

For the most part, the evidence in conference games doesn't support that. This is a team with very little margin for error against good teams and the slump from the hot start commenced almost immediately after he entered the game.

Who is the Gopher MVP this year?

I won't say good shooters are a dime a dozen but, yes, there is a difference between a good shooter and a good scorer. Bobby Durkin is a very good shooter but he doesn't have a great ability to get a shot for himself whereas Tyson can get his own shot and can score in multiple ways. Tyson...

Who is the Gopher MVP this year?

Good work! As much as I like and appreciate Reynolds (I'd say he's #2 by maybe a closer margin than you feel), it's been difficult for the Gophers to recruit a player with Tyson's offensive capabilities. Their #1 portal recruiting target in the offseason should be to find a scorer who at least...

Niko should be in Big Ten coach of the year mix

I agree he's done an excellent job. Perhaps he could have put together a better roster but it's not like he could have recruited 15 scholarship players to compensate for the six injuries.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT OREGON IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The only players on the roster that he didn't bring in are Asuma, Grove, and Shinholster so I think he must of tried to bring in "his type of players." Unfortunately, injured players aren't anyone's type of players. A bright spot from all this injury misfortune is that the seven players we...

You don't think fatigue is related to mistakes?

Shooter: Don’t be surprised if former Orono star Nolan Groves ends up with the Gophers for his sophomore season.

But Cade Tyson established himself as a scorer at Belmont so he had that history. Nolan Groves has no history at the collegiate level. He's a bit like Freitag after his freshman year at Wisconsin but Freitag has established himself as an impact player (20 points per game) at Buffalo this...

Shooter: Don’t be surprised if former Orono star Nolan Groves ends up with the Gophers for his sophomore season.

That's not relevant to next season. The question is whether Nolan Groves is better than what we could pick up in the transfer portal. If we want to go after a former Minnesota high school player that could make a real impact, go after Daniel Freitag if he hits the portal. He's averaging 20...

Shooter: Don’t be surprised if former Orono star Nolan Groves ends up with the Gophers for his sophomore season.

I'm not sure what you meant there but I think Grove has shown enough this year for people to want him to continue playing here. I don't think Shinholster has.

    Athlon roster rankings by recruiting

I also wondered if Maryland may have been a bit stubborn in adjusting their recruiting emphasis after they entered the Big Ten. If you don't have good lines (especially offensive) in this conference, you really struggle. I remember perusing a Maryland game thread after a pretty bad loss to us...

    Athlon roster rankings by recruiting

I've often wondered that myself. I'm not surprised by their rankings because they're located in a favorable recruiting area.

***OFFICIAL MARYLAND AT MINNESOTA SUPER BOWL SUNDAY IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes, and the second place team, UCF, is doing significantly better so far than last season. Of course, I would like to see the team win as many games as they can for the remainder of the season but I just don't have much faith in this team right now. Although they're 4-9 in conference, three...

According to the Wikipedia entry for the 2025 CBC, these teams: Declined bids Indiana[4] Iowa[5] Kansas State[6] Northwestern[7] Ohio State[8] Penn State[9] Rutgers[10] TCU[11] West Virginia[12]

***OFFICIAL MARYLAND AT MINNESOTA SUPER BOWL SUNDAY IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Sure, but you can decline (as a number of conference teams did last season). If they don't get at least 14 wins (15 would be better) in the regular season, I think they should decline. Spend the time trying to improve next year's team from the transfer portal. Also, I'm not sure that...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA, IZZO TO COMPLIMENT MEDVED POST-GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yeah, I think 4-4 is most likely too. I could also see Washington (currently tied with us) finishing 4-4 and those two teams meeting in the BTT.

    Bobby Durkin appreciation post!

Yes, he's been a good starter with a skill set that fits well with the rest of the team. My only wish is that he would get to the foul line a little more often but I think he is very cognizant of his strengths and weaknesses and he doesn't quite trust his ability to attack the basket in traffic.

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA, IZZO TO COMPLIMENT MEDVED POST-GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The good thing is that games with three of the teams ranked below us in the standings (NW, Rutgers, Maryland) are at home. The fourth team ranked below us (Oregon) is away. Hopefully we can avoid another Penn State moment.
