All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

I was a bit surprised by the dearth of nicknames for the Twins over the years-Rat was definitely in consideration, but I recall him more as G-Man which is pretty lame. Herbie, Bruno, Kitty, Tony O are pretty pedestrian.

Movies that hold up vs. those that don't

I didn't phrase my original post very well-meant to say on the basis of just GWH and Bourne trilogy would be enough for a legendary career in my book. Add in Saving Private Ryan, The Informant!, The Martian, The Departed, True Grit, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Ocean's 11. . . a hell of a career...

Movies that hold up vs. those that don't

I got sucked into watching Good Will Hunting last night, once the kids went to sleep and let me tell you, it holds up and then some. It's hard to track in my mind that the movie was released nearly thirty years ago and to realize how that set off the careers of Damon and Affleck squared, plus...

Movies that hold up vs. those that don't

I don't know if I responded to this back when you originally posted, but Ordinary People is indeed extraordinary (I couldn't help myself). I know over the years it's caught a good deal of grief for winning Best Picture over Raging Bull, but it's such a well done family drama and so wonderfully...

I just hope no one brought their daughters to the game tonight.

Robert Redford, magnetic Hollywood icon known for his roles in classics like ‘All the President’s Men,’ dies at 89.

Three Days of the Condor was a fabulous Cold War spy thriller with Redford in the lead.

I’m on your heels Ope, sitting at 1587. Aurelio Lopez was my All Star, I think from that juggernaut year of the ‘84 Tigers. I was also surprised by the number of All Stars and had totally blanked on Fernando being from Mexico. I was skating by on the skin of my teeth in that category today.

As I should have known, my big words came back to bite me in the ass for week 2. Allen, Henry, and Brown all underperformed and I chose to ride with Moore vs. Odunze for my second WR slot. Oh well, hopefully the dog in Allen/Henry's season arrived in Week 2 and isn't indicative of how the season...

Twins on the Grid today and without being too obvious about it, a current platoon situation is there for the taking.

I was able to achieve rarified air today-9 for 9 on unique players. My recent deep dives in the SABR project write ups really paid off (Fenwick is an interesting one-second MLB’er of Japanese heritage who played baseball at the “U” and made his home in northern MN where he was a county...

    Interesting baseball stats

In 1961, Frank Funk won 11 games, lost 11 games and earned 11 saves for the Cleveland Indians.

In my league, the QB earns 6 points for TD passes/rushing and the format has an additional offensive player in addition to the standard 2 QB's, 2 RB's & WR's, 1 TE. So, it makes all the sense in the world to grab 2 strong QB's, which in our league means there should be 20 QB's starting each...

Just took a peek at Milan's career-in addition to what you pointed out, also hits on the .300+ category and +30 SB's (which I feel like I've exhausted with the MN Twins contingent). Cheers!

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

I had already used Cabrera, so I thought I could skate in with a low score using Bruno, but it arrived at 10%! With the likes of Sonny Gray, Gaetti, Jim Kaat, Tom Herr, I thought I'd get a much lower score, but alas, it wasn't to be. I did slot Mick Abel into that Twins/Phillies square for a...

Was able to have back to back Black Sox grids with the utilization of Shoeless Joe Jackson-maybe Buck Weaver or Chick Gandil will be available for today’s board. It’s got me hankering for a rewatch of Eight Men Out. Also of note, Atwater’s Mike Kingery was my .300/CF square for a really low...

Can’t really fathom looking down the bench for a pinch hitter and calling upon Mickey Gasper, but what do I know?
