ESPN: FBS coaches vote unanimously to adjust sport's redshirt rule (play up to 9 games without losing redshirt)

For sure the majority of players will still redshirt early. But there will be some who are college stars who: Start early in college Are highly valued by college programs Aren't considered top-tier NFL prospects These guys will want to use all possible avenues to stay in college for one more...

ESPN: FBS coaches vote unanimously to adjust sport's redshirt rule (play up to 9 games without losing redshirt)

A side effect of this will be certain guys shutting it down the last couple weeks of the season Maybe even guys who have been starters for 2-3 seasons taking a "redshirt" by sitting out the last couple games of their senior year. Get that college fantasy football championship in before rivalry...

ESPN: College football buzz: What we're hearing about playoff expansion

I guess the Rate Bowl becomes the Grandaddy of Them All! The Rate Bowl did get some of the best Ratings of this cycle. Ratings according to ESPN were up a lot, at 10-15 year highs for the minor bowls. Unheard of for cable in 2025. So the minor bowls will keep on bowling.

Rumor from CBS that Dylan Riola may jump Nebraska

Drake may not have the prospect pedigree but I know he wouldn't take 9 sacks in a game from our 2025 D-Line rushing 3 guys.

CFP Title Game Ticket Prices on Pace to Be Most Expensive Ever

Will Miami have to use the visitors locker room in their own (sorta) home stadium? They are the road team at a neutral site as far as the CFP is concerned. They will be wearing their away whites. I say "sorta" because us Gopher fans know very well what it's like to be a secondary tenant in a...

ESPN: College football buzz: What we're hearing about playoff expansion

The push will never stop until at least Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Texas are guaranteed spots even if they go 6-6 and fire the coach Because come on man, you saw the recruiting ranks...I know they lost some games but we all know they would win against all the other conferences...trust...

Big Ten coaching looks like it’s going to be crazy good next year!

I bet they lose the same number of Big Ten games as the coaches from 2025 did

Division III Indiana-Like Turnaround: River Falls

That amount of time is 3 seconds. The defensive subs must enter the field within 3 seconds after the offense subs. The point is not to prevent all defensive substitutions but to create confusion for the opponent where they are constantly reacting to your lead under a time constraint

Division III Indiana-Like Turnaround: River Falls

They don't get all the time they want to sub. They have to react to the offense and its tempo and have very little time to do it in. The offense decides when the next play begins, subject to the refs spotting the ball

    Favorite Defenses as a fan

The 1904 Gopher Defense had 12 shutouts in 13 games, allowed 0.92 points per game, and the Gophers won the National Championship. Gonna be hard to top that one

CFB GMs / Billy Glasscock / Gerrit Chernoff

From what I've heard there are three kinds of GMs: Those with power over the program, including hiring and firing coaches as the role entails in the NFL (Andrew Luck at Stanford) Those with power over the purse and personnel, managing spending on players and/or other team resources. "Salary...

OU TE Kaden Helms has committed to MN.

He's wearing #18 and split out in the file photo of him we've got so you are probably right. Just hasn't caught a lot of passes so far in his career.

Lehigh Safety Mikhai Smith commits to MN.

Maybe so. I've got a AWJr Bucs jersey in my closet living in Tampa Bay. He's my favorite non-Vikings NFLer. I just don't hear him talked about that way on GH or in Gopher circles. He's not a focus player for the many Bucs fans I know, even though he's often been their best player. But he's...

Lehigh Safety Mikhai Smith commits to MN.

Koi was never going to be a "legend" here unless the Gophers had a huge season (make the CFP) in 2026 Antoine Winfield Jr led the defense for the Gophers best season since 1961, made a ton of huge plays along the way, then won a Super Bowl, All Pro, and became the top paid DB in NFL history at...

Lehigh Safety Mikhai Smith commits to MN.

For people who keep asking "How did Cignetti do it?" he did it largely with guys with this type of profile. Lots of all-conference level players from FCS and G5.

    Thoughts on Kenny Minchey

I’m not an expert on any of this but I believe the counterparty could either be the school itself (since it’s the employer) or the NCAA. In pro sports the teams are franchises of a single business entity such as the NFL or NBA. That is obviously not the case with the NCAA or the universities...

    Thoughts on Kenny Minchey

You can't have a CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) without a collective entity to bargain with, such as a union. Presumably that union would advocate for some kind of rights or benefits in exchange for limits or concessions in any contract negotiation. Those might be things like continuing...

    Thoughts on Kenny Minchey

The only way players can or will enter a CBA that limits their rights is if they have a union that protects their rights.
