Nope. He already has enough money and his families lives are in San Diego. At that age don’t need the stress of leaving the beach to take on a rebuild job.
He has already turned down the Ohio State job a few years ago and they have exponentially more money than Minnesota. Creighton has some big money boosters whose money all goes to basketball at Creighton since no football. They have averaged top 10 in attendance nationally for many years now...
The 105 is a new rule, so teams with huge walk-on programs have to get rid of a ton of players. The days of walk-ons are essentially over now with this new rule
The problem is no one knows how much of this Big ten money is used up to supplement all these other athletic programs at Minnesota that lose money, and some a lot of money. There may not be a lot of money left over after paying those bills. How many of all the teams at the U even break even?
Agree. McDermott already turned down Ohio State several years ago when they hired Holtmann. He isn’t going to start over a rebuild now at his age at a lesser Big 10 program than one he already turned down. He will retire at Creighton with his statue and court named after him when he wants...
I think he needs to hire a dedicated QB coach. The skills and mechanics of that position are so different and important and you can’t just add it as a responsibility to the coordinator who has no experience in that part of coaching.
What money? It isn’t as if the gopher AD is sitting on a war chest of money. Haven’t you seen his comments lately expressing concern about how to pay for upcoming expenses due to recent NCAA settlements?
People can dream or ask that PJ be fired but it won’t happen anytime soon. The gopher athletic department doesn’t have and won’t have the funds to justify a buyout of his contract.
