Game 6: Gophers v South Florida in the Bahamas 11-24-25

Off to a great start with Flo Hoops. While they showed the starting lineups that were missing Tori, they were talking about her stats on the season and how they're excited to see her big impact on the court today. Really glad they've done their research!

Game 5: Gophers visit Kansas 11-19-25

I didn't really interpret the limping as related to cramps or anything serious. She was limping at the end of the game after she had fallen when she was trying to contest a shot. It didn't look like a true lasting injury, but that she had just gotten scuffed up when she fell. There wasn't enough...

Game 5: Gophers visit Kansas 11-19-25

I'm not as down on this team as others, but watching that game last night, it seems like they are going to have some struggles this season. Some of them are workable as the season progresses, and some of them might be more challenging to get around. I'm most concerned about the depth of the post...

Game 5: Gophers visit Kansas 11-19-25

Charlie Creme's bracketology from earlier today has both Minnesota and Kansas in the last four byes, with Kansas at a 9 seed and us at an 11 seed. I guess we'll get to see how that holds up tomorrow!

    2025-2026 Season Polls

Bart Torvik pulls in all of the advanced statistics from each game and ranks each team based on those. Based on his algorithm, he currently has Minnesota ranked 13th. He also has our overall strength of schedule for the year ranked 26th nationally (being in the Big Ten obviously helps a lot with...

Game 4: Gophers host NJIT 11-14-25

Last year's team was certainly able to when they took Ohio State to overtime and lost by only 3 points on the road, or when they were at Maryland and nearly stole the road win there too. Now they've added some key pieces with Brylee Glenn and Makena Christian, who are major improvements...

Game 3: Gophers host Marquette (11-11-25)

On paper, they are expected to be the best two players, but Grocholski and McKinney are phenomenal too. When all four of them are on the court, you might be able to guard one or two of them well, but not all of four of them all the time. I'm not worried. Defenses pick their poisons and some...

Game 3: Gophers host Marquette (11-11-25)

Yeah, the Lynx also got spottier coverage this summer. And they had at least three different people rotating in and writing stories about the Lynx without him.

    Woodson out for the season

I'm not going to argue a lot given the gravity of the situation, but a couple minutes after the play, I saw Dawn go to one of the referees and argue the foul (because a foul was indeed called!) should have been upgraded. I also heard Manhattan's coach reassure her bench, "This is okay. She...

    Woodson out for the season

I don't think it's about preparation. Across all of women's sports, there's just an increase in ACL injuries recently, and there's some new research being done as to why this type of injury is more common in women than men. Also, I'm trying to be generous to the Manhattan player who injured...

    Gophers win 91-47 over ND

She ended up shooting very well, but for a couple of the shots toward the beginning of the shot clock, I could see a bit of disappointment on Dawn's face that she was settling. I imagine she was a little eager in her first college game and the coaches might prefer for her to take fewer but more...

Mallory Heyer announces she's leaving Gophers program

Yeah, (with zero inside knowledge) one of my thoughts has been that maybe the coaching staff knew longer than they let on and just decided that two weeks before the season was the best time to make it public. It doesn't even need to be for nefarious reasons, but they could have decided it was...

    Minnesota 2025-2026

Interesting. It seems like Charlie Creme currently tends to prefer prior season performances to who is actually on the roster for the upcoming season. Not sure I'd say Indiana and Illinois (who are both rebuilding this year after losing multiple significant players each) are going to do better...

    Minnesota 2025-2026

I'm excited to get the season started and finally see what this team can do. There have been so many different takes in the media on the Gophers positioning, ranging from being top 4-6 in the Big Ten and 18th nationally, to being last 4 into the tournament. And I get why, they have the coaching...

Mallory Heyer announces she's leaving Gophers program

This is her last year of eligibility so she would not be able to play anywhere else if she played off the bench for the Gophers. Now I will say it's interesting that she's just decided to leave instead of doing what Brylee Glenn did at K State. After she lost her starting spot, she decided to...

    Minnesota 2025-2026

You know that compared to all other Big Ten teams, Minnesota had the lowest average of turnovers (11.3) per game last year, right? AND the highest assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.4. The next closest was UCLA with 1.32!

    Recruiting

Yeah, I totally agree. My original point was coming from the angle that the rankings only tell us how these players perform against high school players with high school coaches. They aren't that informative of how they will perform at the college level with college coaches.

    Recruiting

Oh, you must have better memory than I do! I just checked again, and she was 98th out of 100 on ESPN's final list. But that just goes to show how much they undervalued her!
