How did Indiana go from zero to hero?

You might have posted this tongue-in-cheek but it's true!

How did Indiana go from zero to hero?

    1) Recruit good coaches and get boosters on board to sign key positions including a nice NFL quality portal QB. 2) Get super lucky in 2024 with an incredibly weak schedule. No Top 25 wins with losses vs Ohio State and Notre Dame. Get really lucky with injuries. Still, the resume' is bolstered...

    Notre Dame Schadenfreude thread

My buddy that's a massive Notre Dame fan believes the USC rivalry is probably dead. The Irish schedule will be even weaker. I can't image Wisconsin scheduling Notre Dame in the future, either. MSU might eventually balk as well after 2027.

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

The ACC and Big 12 for sure would be better off not holding a conference championship. Virginia would have made it. It's possible BYU makes it. There were rumors that the SEC gave some stern warnings this year that if Alabama were to be snubbed (or Ole Miss for losing its coach) they would blow...

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

Meanwhile, Oregon and A&M were sitting at home this weekend laughing while their competition beat each other up in championship games.

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

The blame for Tulane and JMU displacing some good Power 4 teams falls on the weakness in the ACC (and also the Big 12 to a lesser extent). The conference championship game Virginia vs Duke was a joke in the context of the "best" teams. There really isn't a Power 4 when it comes to elite teams...

    It's time for a change.

Cignetti has a couple receivers that can catch contested balls. BTW, I think I recall Geers pulling down some clutch passes this year.

    NDSU goes down

I know a bunch of people in the F-M area. I’ve seen several texts today of people cancelling Nashville hotel reservations. LMAO.

    Defensive Line Coach let go

It seems like the D Line was caught between jumping gaps for potential TFOLs or being gap disciplined and keeping the opposing O Line off the linebackers...and not really accomplishing either in some games. Could it have been that? Or something else that made him unpalatable?

OK. That one is funny....but...in real life, back in the day, that area was chock full of Nordic busty blondes!

Who is the Dragon "axe" rivalry with? I had to do a double take. There's not a lot of lumber coming out of the Red River Valley.

True. For me, there's one exception. I like awarding the top 5 conference champions with an auto bid even if they have a less-than-best resume'.

Gophers’ transfer class gets a failing grade

I'll quibble a bit on a couple points. - The team relied on Cam Davis often as a 3rd down back. He had 18 receptions and seemed to be a halfway decent blocker. - Coleman has a future as a physical receiver and good downfield blocker even if it took a while to see the field. - Lastly, I agree...

    Joe Rossi

No on Rossi. I can't see that working. Maybe Collins is the guy long term with growing pains to figure it out, but it sucks to risk those growing pains at the Power 4 level. All previous D coordinators here under Fleck had a bunch of experience. I'd love to have another Hetherman here, but...

    Official Bash SEC Narrative Thread

Kirk on this subject: BTW, I'm almost, but not quite, to the point of advocating going full Indiana on this and scheduling only creampuffs in non-con. Early games against peers like Cal, UNC, MS State etc. are fun and a good measure where the team is at but might be going away.

    Official Bash SEC Narrative Thread

You could place Notre Dame into this same argument. They do have a 3-2 record against FBS bowl teams but ranked higher than Miami, a team they lost to. It doesn't seem like a 3-2 record against above average teams would be playoff worthy, but I guess that's par for the course?

    Max

Ouch. I just can't get over how poorly designed that play was.

    Max

Same goes for the disaster pick 6 fourth down. If a field goal is kicked, or literally any other play run that doesn’t leave the play-side defensive end completely unblocked in the QBs face, the game and Max’s status is different. Oh well. The play is now immortalized.
