In the event you forgot, Wisconsin took a knee within easy field goal range at the end of that game. If Iowa had made the 2 point conv, there's no assurance the game would have ended in a tie. Wisconsin didn't need to score there, but just maintain possession.

Iowa had 3 close losses, but 5 of their wins [ISU, Nebraska, Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois] were hardly wow type wins. Unless you say wow they were lucky to win most of those.

Minnesota rowed a boat. Wisconsin rowed a battleship.

We will likely never be in the elite tier like OSU, Bama, etc. but achieving success/excellence is tough and maintaining it is even tougher. Just ask Texas, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska. Congrats on your season and good luck in your bowl game.

What's the minority student percentage at the U of M? If it's low that doesn't help in recruiting the Southern black athlete. Or so I've gleaned from seeing it discussed over the years. Even so, the better players will still gravitate to the UMs, the OSUs or PSUs.

That never worked very well for Wisconsin. Weather and minority presence on campus are bigger factors for recruits. Barry Alvarez has said that he could sign more kids if he had them in Madison in June. Most Southern players will never play Up Nort unless they make it on a pro team.
