What will the 2023 Gopher Offense look like?

Our other backs are not good enough for the abysmally slow handoffs. At least Williams and Potts. These need to happen faster or you will see a lot more runs like the first play of the Purdue game where we somehow ran it up the middle for a 5-yard loss (Potts). Have to be faster.

What's happening in WI QB room?

Agree they are largely unproven but WI, Iowa, and Illinois have all brought in heavy talent at a major position of weakness. They aren’t just trying to wish on development from players at a Petras level. Also Mordecai does have numbers at a lower division. We keep talking up receivers and DBs...

What's happening in WI QB room?

They have greatly improved the talent at that position and will be much stronger at QB next season.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS SYRACUSE PINSTRIPE BOWL IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Whether Gophs or Vikes, if there is more than 20 seconds on the clock before the half, the other team will score. It’s truly bonkers how buffonish our end-of-half defenses here are in MN. DLine absolute garbage on this drive too.

Irving to the end zone, can’t compete at MN

Ideally you have both Mo and Bucky - they are two different types of players. Mo is more consistent in churning yardage but doesn't have the speed to house one from long. Got chased down past the secondary on multiple occasions this year. It killed us because our offense was so bad we couldn’t...

Let's have a talk about kickoffs (big analytics surprise)

In the return game, we do not have a legitimate returner. I do not want Redding returning kickoffs and would rather he fair catch them. Happy to have Kesich get a touchback on each kickoff. We don’t have the ability to kick short and rely on coverage.

Fleck has become worse than Kill

Fleck has lost me but Kill was a nightmare with a Claeys malignancy. Blessed to have them out of the program.

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA BATTLE FOR FLOYD OF ROSEDALE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The game plan to run Mo 40 times is not a legit game plan. It almost worked here against a bad team but doesn’t work against real squads. And if you are going to rely only on the run, you need someone that can house one, which we desperately desperately desperately need. Real gross to...

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA BATTLE FOR FLOYD OF ROSEDALE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It’s bonkers how easy it is to call a defense against the Gophs.

When it comes to Football, are we a Service Academy?

We are not good enough to rely on just the run v Iowa and WI.

'Bucky' Irving and Ky Thomas saved last season for Gophers — and then they were gone

I don’t think this is clear. Irving was our most explosive back. It‘s not particularly close. His ability to make plays catching the ball out of the backfield would have been a huge asset in a year where our WRs are performing poorly. But can’t fault a kid for chasing NIL money at a more...

What One Play Defines our Season to Date?

First play of the game v. Purdue where we somehow lost 5 yards on a handoff to Potts.

PSA Kill isn’t coming back (informative poll)

Watching Gopher football during the Kill/Leidner era was torture. Brewster was a bad hire, Kill was a bad hire, jury is out on Fleck but has had more positive moments than either of the previous hires.

How NIL can and will change things.

I can understand the effort to compensate players, but NIL in current state is a problem. Less for the scenario listed, and more because a decade from now, the top 25 school NIL pools will more-or-less mirror the top 25 rankings. Way less fun.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS BOUNCE-BACK IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Devito 9/10 for 100 yds and a TD with no QB hits or pressure at all. Do we have talent at DE?

    Gopher targets in the portal

I am wondering if Isiah Gibson from KY will be a DL target. Gophs were on him out of HS and Rossi was his primary recruiter. No information here I just saw his name come up a while back and thought he may be a target if we go DL in the portal:

Why is 2022 a "tough rebuild year"?

I hope that finishing with a series of tough games on the road ends up as a non-event, but as a fan of this team over the last several decades, there is no way I can feel comfortable assuming Gopher road wins over the likes of MSU, PSU, WI, etc. But agree the team has the talent to be as...
