I think this is true for a lot of people, myself included. But I'm not sure it's because of the bolded sentence in the post you were replying too. It's more of teams just buying up the talent.

I think this is the problem with expanding the roster to 105. I understand why they did it, but now Texas and all the schools above us get 20 extra kids per year that are better than the old walk on that would normally be taking up that spot.

You want him getting more money? For failing at his job and being demoted? He should be so lucky as to be able to go back to his old job with the salary it garnered. That would be us being very nice to him.
