That is Bizarre, even for Pat.

The fact that 3 of the losses were close to (or were) historically bad in the last 10 years. To go along with the upset loss to Cal, and scrambling close victories kind of leave a bad taste overall, at least for me. Blocking and tackling is football and both have been deficient this season.

They had a few players ejected as did opponents, that was the first year(s) of that rule and obviously there was an adjustment period. Tackling has been fine under Fleck, but this year has been weak.

Speaking of Iowa To me the biggest difference is their tackling is way better, especially this season. They also don’t seem to get out of position to allow big plays. Their offensive line is better, good backs, and a tough QB, the talent gap this year is more than a little, in my opinion.

It’s hard to justify optimism for this game. Minnesota has probably played 1 game where it would be a slam dunk win. 4 that would be slam dunk losses and 4 that would be 50/50 at best. My faith in the 2025 squad is pretty low.
