    Jackson Kollock

Thanks. I didn't know that he was a Penn State commit.

    Jackson Kollock

I don't know if he is a fallback if Bergeron flips, but Mission Hills (CA) 3-star QB Troy Huhn is listed as "warm" for Virginia Tech. Franklin recruited him when he was at Penn State. Huhn's offer list is more impressive than Bergeron's, but that may be a function of Bergeron committing to...

If the blue bloods left for a "super league", who would be hurt more, them or the also-rans like us?

I think there would be a lot more parity. Going back to one of my points in an earlier post, teams in a higher-tiered league would absolutely recruit the heck the best players in the lesser league and if the portal applies to the higher-tiered league, you will see players leaving programs for...

If the blue bloods left for a "super league", who would be hurt more, them or the also-rans like us?

I think you would see a lot (not everyone of course) of lesser-recruited players or QBs that want to play right away end up in the also-ran league and then step up to the Blue Bloods for their third and any subsequent seasons (when I say any, after the Pavia court case some guys will be playing...

    It's Officially Flipping Season

Who knows? Maybe the portal will start allowing guys to transfer mid-season.

If the blue bloods left for a "super league", who would be hurt more, them or the also-rans like us?

From my vantage point, if the Blue Bloods would bolt, they would immediately try to fashion some kind of partnership with the NFL. It wouldn't take the form of cash, but it may include some type of informal affiliation. The Blue Bloods would promote their product "You're watching guys who play...

If the blue bloods left for a "super league", who would be hurt more, them or the also-rans like us?

I'm watching less as well. I'm usually reading or doing something around the house on Saturdays and Sundays so I will usually have a game on in the background on television or computer. I don't know your age, but I'm in my 70s and while I don't want to sound like an old man yelling at a cloud...

    What is Niko building?

I agree, but as you lay out, the difference between Medved and Johnson is that Medved has a solid idea of what he wants to run and the players that best fit his system. It's not apples-to-apples, but I view Johnson as similar to Brewster minus the blather. I do think if Christie, Payne, and...

    What is Niko building?

I think a program has to start with a system and find players to fit that system. Medved's in his first year and we have a bit of a hodgepodge of guys this year. That will likely change over the next couple of years and the talent level will improve. But it has to start with a system or else...

Gophers PJ Fleck on his convo with the officials.

It wouldn't have made a difference in the end, but the officiating was terrible and I don't think we got a call all night. They were mugging our WRs and TEs.

If the blue bloods left for a "super league", who would be hurt more, them or the also-rans like us?

If the Blue Bloods started their own gig, it would be the end of college football at that level and it would just be semi-pro football at that tier (some would argue that not much would actually change in that regard). But the Blue Bloods would negotiate a giant television deal and feed off of...

    DB’s

I'm no great defensive mind, but defenses have to play as a unit more than an offense. Any part doesn't play to standard and the whole thing tends to fall apart. I think the CB play is so weak that it's affecting the safeties. You can't play "forward" when you are constantly covering up for...

    Week 12 Other Games Thread

Agree. USC is tremendously athletic, but they seem unorganized and disinterested half the time.

    Week 12 Other Games Thread

USC slumbers out of the gate, but once they get it in gear their athleticism can take over. They teeter on the edge and risk getting too far behind but that team has to rank among the top in the country in raw quicks.

Post Game Thread: Oregon Fumbles TD, Blows Out Gophers

My impression as well and makes me think they are having to do more to prop up the CBs.

Post Game Thread: Oregon Fumbles TD, Blows Out Gophers

We lost our best (by far) LB and two very good CBs. I'm no defensive brain wizard but I've always thought that poor CB play really erodes the effectiveness of the safeties. Safety is a position of strength for us on paper, but for some reason they haven't looked as solid this year as last...

Post Game Thread: Oregon Fumbles TD, Blows Out Gophers

O-line is terrible and interior DL/LB are underperforming. LBs are especially underperforming. Team speed is just bad. If the team is determined to run a pro-set with Lindsey at QB, you simply can't have him ducking and/or dumping off the ball every time he drops back. Opposing defenses are...

Fire Coyle, Fire Fleck! Rip the Band-Aid off!!!

I think Coyle and Fleck are fine, but if you want to go beyond "fine" there will have to be an infusion of talent (however that happens). I can't believe the drop-off in talent from last year's team to this year's team. It's almost night-and-day out there.

What grade would you give the Gophers in the Oregon blowout?

I gave them a C largely because I saw the effort and I'm a notoriously easy grader. Can't teach speed and I was absollutely shocked by the speed differential between the teams. Agree on the identity issue. Fleck and company have run a pretty much straight pro-set since he's been here with a...
