Just 1 loss still would put them in the CFP. Even losing all 3 would still be likely a 9 win season, something Indiana had NEVER done until 2024. Maybe they already have more than 1 above average QB on the roster currently. Possible.

I think the rest of the roster would still get the Hoosiers to 10-2 this season even with just an average QB. With now more of a track record, access to NIL I think Cignetti will be able reliably identify viable QB options. Maybe even the backups are quality, for all we know.

Considering what Indiana football had previously accomplished in the last half century and are now playing to Sold Out crowds in Bloomington, hell ya that's worthwhile.

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

Buttercup Dickerson. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttercup_Dickerson Found him from your Nolan link as another of the 10 players to be blacklisted by the National League in 1881. His story reads like a Hollywood script waiting to happen, but not a much different tale than The Princess Bride...

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

Today is a Banner Grid Day for your boy, The Only Nolan. Redemption! Added as a New Player along with Jose Morales & Moe Drabowsky. Moe is just one of 6 MLB Players to be born in Poland. For Morales, I admit I just typed in "Jose" and tried to hunt down a Newbie who qualified. Score. Total...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

For whatever reason I think it becomes a "disability settlement", whether it's a negotiation or formula where they get a portion of their contract. I admit I could be way off base on that.

Two Schools Are Reportedly Considering Leaving The Big Ten

Shouldn't Michigan-Northwestern count in your list? Currently the Wildcats are tied for 9th, technically "top half". But your greater point is valid. I suppose what will drive it is the viewership these games amongst also-rans garner with so little on the line down the stretch (in terms of CFP...

2025 Minnesota High School Football Thread

Yeah, as a follower of Northfield I don't see why there can't be a crossover game or two against any of the nearby schools/districts they used to play, like Eastview or Farmington.

Two Schools Are Reportedly Considering Leaving The Big Ten

Somehow there will be two 0-6 teams playing in the coveted 2:30 window on CBS this afternoon. Uffda.

What does coming back to Earth mean for Indiana football? 9-3? 8-4? It is literally the program with most losses in P4 football throughout history. Those types of records are still a remarkable jump and I don't envision they will fall below those floors with the setup now even if they decide to...

I don't disagree with any of that, as it certainly played out that the USC ranking was a mirage. However we didn't know any of that heading into the Bank that night, and it certainly seemed like a multiple TD beat down was possible at the hands of the Trojans.

Two Schools Are Reportedly Considering Leaving The Big Ten

I'm not a Vikings ticket holder so it for that alone the not playing on the "traditional" competition date (Sunday) in the NFL doesn't really bother me, at all. If I were, what would bug me is the Friday afternoon Christmas or the potential for a "home" game being moved to Dublin, London, Madrid...

Two Schools Are Reportedly Considering Leaving The Big Ten

For every USC vs Michigan game there's also a UCLA vs Rutgers. It also means fewer Michigan vs Penn St as well as Little Brown Jug matchups.

The deal is near finalized for #UCLA football to play its home games in SoFi Stadium.

Staying at Memorial was not feasible. By stating it was the "less worse of the options" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the HHH Dome as a college football venue. I was thrilled that by 2009 a better option presented itself.

Cool memory. I had a similar memory with my father as well, listening to Ray on WCCO describe the thrashing of the Michigan later that fall. Amazing the Gophers beat both Pasadena participants that 1977 campaign. ----- The video link however shows how obvious the move to the HHH Dome was the...
